That was funny Jimmy, but the ugly dude doesn't need to leave our forum just enter here w/o his attitude and hostility. I understand his pride, just not the way he chose to air it here rather than PM's. He's young and needs to learn a lot about getting along with others. Bill

p.s. if you can find a RX7 with a good body/interior with the only probem being a bad engine for $200 let me know i'll take 5.
good fight, good night
Ok... first... leadings only sparking half the time- THAT is your problem. No leading spark = low power, hot exhaust.

Second, profanity is ok, UP TO A POINT. FLAMES are not permitted in here. That being said-

70boss302, HoNdAh8rRx7LuVr, and Bambam7, the flames WILL stop NOW. Warning #1. (that means for ALL of you.) Read the forum rules.

And HoNdAh8rRx7LuVr, change your "LOCATION" information now. That is a flame to other users in itself.

I don't WANT to have to lock this thread, so stop the flames... if it keeps up, and I have to lock it, someone is gonna get a week vacation from the forum.

LOL

hey, did you see my spelling on whether i added an a =) my mechanic said my turbo is funked to a hot place and i have NO compression on one rotor =] he said "lobe" but would it be drivable if i disabled the bad rotor by i dont know stoping the two injectors from spitting fuel? and how would i go about doing that?
if the one rotor is bad, does that mean my housing is bad? and if it is would it be cheap to rebuild the engine and replace the one housing and rotor is needed?

Lets get serious here now

The motor starts easy and runs smooth, idles when its in the mood. I don't think it is a clogged cat but I will degut it and do a compression check this weekend. The tailpipe exhaust seems strong, but hot. The rear rotor plugs are black but they fire. the front rotor plugs are clean. I can drive the car but it slows way down on a hill. It will tach up and rev in the gears. Is this engine dead with 153K miles on it? The rest of the car is in good condition. IT has the power sunroof that works, leather int, kicking stereo, AC, dual mode suspension and more. I like it and want to keep it and will put a motor in if it needs it, but why rebuild to find out it doesn't run any better? Bill

Firstly, I got an absolutely MINT '88 NA for 500 Cdn. ($333 USD). There was not a thing wrong with it, and it had completely brand new STOCK exhaust from the manifold back, with 1000 kms on them. Those were Mazda cats. This car was perfect in every way, never had a repaint or bodywork. So $250 is a decent price, IMO.
Don't like it, let it lie. It was an offer, not a kick to the groin.

Two, Bill: gut your precats for one. Get a timing light and verify you're getting spark to both plugs just as much as you are to the front rotors.
Check the operation of the 6 port on the rear rotor. If the rear 6 port is stuck shut, fuel would be injected into those runners and the engine would run rich on that rotor and lean on the front. But i would bet it is clogged cats.
Nice Name, BTW. Love those cars.

Oh ****, sorry, left out the most important part. It had a blown engine, thats why I amde the comparison. I replaced it with a Mazda Factory engine.

Thanks for cleaning up around here Brad. It takes a lot to get me mad, but that guy knew just which buttons to push. Looks like he will have to learn the hard way. Maybe now we can get back to the original topic here. Sorry it had to get to this point. Bill

Wait, you said it works well at 4000 rpm?

Someone who knows than me please answer this: Isn't this near the level where the rear rotor kicks in? Cuz, like, if it was having trouble... yeah.

WTF are you talking about?
Both rotors combust, all the time.
Secondary injectors come on at 3800 rpm, but a stuck injector would not make the rear rotor rich, such as his case.

I would say all the speculation is pretty much a waste of time till he verifies his compression numbers...Max

Guy's this is a site to help friends and RX lovers not be asses to them. Help the man if you can't then SHUT UP!!

Yo man first change your O2 sensor (if you haven't), just looked them up on the web they are less than 40$'s at Advance Auto Parts, next ....yes compression test it could be that apex Seal, I doubt it though. Mine is doing the same thing. It could also be a plugged cat and or low spark from your leading coil pack. Maybee even trailing? DO NOT sell your car until you find this problem ok!! Mine sat for five years and I am battling with this problem still. Take your time we here can help you fix it with the least amount of $$ Write me at danflex@hotmail.com ok
-Dan
ps they are great cars but require experience to fix them(like anything else)
