this is like watching a one legged man in an *** kicking contest. Eric your question has been answered on several different levels. IceBlue from what I gather my short time here tends to know what he is talking about. So quit asking the same question over and over again. Let me recap, there are too many variables for you to say your getting different milage due to having a half tank vs a full tank. The only way I could see you testing this theory correctly would be to sit in the car in your closed garage of course (to try and maintain a steady climate) with a full tank of gas. Jack the car up off the ground with good sturdy jack stands of course for safty, and act like your driving to where ever it is that you drive exactly the same rpm, and conditions to every day and measure it. I think you will find that you are mistaken. And it is just one of the many variables that is causing your difference. And with any luck you'll remember to keep the garage door closed.

^ He would get insane gas milage because the car is not under a load.

hills, stoplights, hot, cold, stupid drivers that make you drive slower, driving faster when you are feeling more "spirited", shifting at 3k and shifting a 6k, revv matching and just downshifting

All of these things can affect the way your gas burns, rx7's are more sensitive to changes in variables, if your gas guages is broken i suggest fixing it or getting a aftermarket unit, its there for a reason, trust me, mine was broken for a while and going by the GAS light is NOT recommended

Do you even know the capacity of the gas tank in an rx7? in my S5 it is 18.5 gallons in an S4 it is 16.6 gallons

my suggestion is that you get a 5 gallon gas can, fill it up

drain the gas tank

fill it with the 5 gallons

go for a drive

record your findings

on the SAME DAY, hopefully same conditions

get 5 more gallons, take the SAME drive, account for things like extra red lights and differences in the travel

if you feel so inclined, do it once more

This should give you exactly the info you need

If your getting anything less than 15mpg with casual city driving (NOT lead footing) then you need a tune up of some sort, TPS adjustment, etc

Iketh, what are your fluids and mods? At what speed do you measure your mileage?

I got 25+ at 70mph (traffic), 22+ at 80mph (cruise control) on a road trip. Refueled every 100 miles.

I carefully track my mileage. There is a LARGE difference between filling it up at half and filling it up at empty, as in 4-5mpg. Varying my driving style only tends to save me 0-2mpg, since I'm somewhat conservative even when I drive hard.

Like I said I recently made a road trip. At the first pump, after 70mph driving, I got 25-26mpg. I used 80mph cruise control the rest of the way and got 22-23mpg, then 22-23mpg, then 22-23mpg at the next 3 fillups.

I drove only ~100-125 miles between fillups. So the easy fix is to keep filling up at half. But it would be nicer to be able to drive further between refuels.
