My solution was to modify the existing arm so that it will slide into itself and be short when pushed up, and also slide back out when the motor is in the down position so that it can make it's full travel and not bind up.
the only extra thing I want to do about pop-ups is make a new stop so that the wind cannot raise the assy all the way when you are doing say 80 or so. So far I have driven around town and it never happened
I don`t want them to bounce up and rattle if I go over a speedbump either.
For the covers, I'd look at making something similare to the 1st Gen light trims. Cut and bend some plastic to surround the raised cover, with two holes cut for the lights.

I did the pics as .jpgs and even I can`t see them now so maybe my hosting failed (damn *** internet), I will check on it now. Here are the pics of the mount to the car.
P.S. the way I made all 4 light up at once was using the relay that came with the fog light set to switch on the low lights when you hit the high beams, the factory way is one or the other the only thing I have to add is a diode to the circuit since when turning off the high beams the relay can still get power from the low beams and the only way to get back to low beams is to kill the lights a sec and break the cycle. The diodes will cost about .50 and take 5 mins. to wire in, no biggie.

I didn't relize the motor would bind up with a shorter arm... But i am happy to know you figured a way around that problem-
I have wanted to do this eventually, and had very briefly looked at the motor assembly... Im glad that i guessed the right way to do it would be with a shorter arm!
This would be a very cool setup with a set of true HID low beams, and some halogen high beams (to save costs). Hella makes a True HID round lens like that im pretty sure.

Yeah true HID`s are the bomb but REAL expensive so these have to do. The reason I used a telescopic arm is that I did`nt want to have to remove and rebracket the motors and all that hassle this was the easiest way and it totally works with stock components except one modified component. AND it can all be done with simple tools from right up top,the only stock thing I have to remove was that rod, the rest of the headlight moving assy. is untouched. Then just screwing a simple bracket with self tapping screws to hold the foglights took about 5 mins. There might be better ways but I can`t think of any way that could be easier or cheaper for anybody to do at home.
I hope this helps people out who wants this look for their FC.
