Looking to clean up the engine bay.
I bought an 89 T2 last year and am in the process of building it right now. I am pulling everything out of the engine bay in order to sand it (lots of rust damage from the old ABS pump) and paint it.
That being said, I basically want to delete and remove all of the extra junk that doesnt need to be there, I just want to keep the PS. I will be blocking off everything that is blockoffable (if you will) on the 13B in hope for a clean simple looking bay. Also doing a partial wire tuck.
My question is simply how many unnecessary parts are there in the bay that I can get rid of, all the way down to just what I need to have the functional engine/car? Will be running:
Rebuilt S5 T2 13B
Rtek 2.1
BNR stage 3 turbo
Walbro 255
FMIC+HKS BOV
Godspeed rad + electric fan
Thinking about running MSD, not sure how much it benefits me.
Fuel system converted to all SS lines
Battery relocation
New alt + double sheeve pulley
Air pump delete
ABS delete (new lines + new master cyl)
OMP delete (will be premixing)
A/C delete (all lines/cooler and the canister by the cooler)
P/S stays
Charcoal canister + sub-zero starting system delete
.... what else? (if anything, I probably have close to most of it)
Thanks.

There are plenty of little pieces you can get rid of. If you're looking for specifics, there are too many pieces to list. I like to look at the engine bay and question the functionality of certain things. Find ways to hide or simplify wiring.
Look into relocating the fuse box and leading coils. That will "clean up" the engine bay a little bit... As it can get cluttered on the driver's side strut tower on a LHD car.

The chacoal canister is part of the evaporative system. It collects fuel vapors from the fuel system. I've never heard that it helps with MPG.

I thought about removing mines at one point, but i just left it there.
I was thinking of just using a tube to connect from where the vapor goes into the canister
to where it goes into the intake. bypassing the canister.
and then remove the canister completely.
but eh.
