I've heard of the firewall seal too. And yeah, I suppose it would be an easier path for the air to exit the tranny tunnel then a positively pressured vent on a hood.
I'd be interested in testing the firewall seal thing, even as simple as having some ribbons tied in the area and seeing if it is blowing out or getting sucked in.

IFF the engine bay is pressurized, then having the back of the hood open could help ventilation.
If you're letting air in anywhwere but through the mouth, it'll be reducing the amount of air going through the radiator, oil cooler and intercooler (if applicable). I guarantee it. See it'll be increasing the pressure under the hood, reducing the pressure differential across the coolers, reducing flow.

Not sure yet, still deciding. All coming down to money, wanted a koyo, but with the aussie dollar been so crap its not worth it.
So will now might get a PWR instead. But want something a bit custom to suit my ewp setup.

That's a nice rad no doubt about it, but I would NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DO BUSINESS WITH PWR AGAIN! ****** sent me the wrong intercooler and when I called him telling him that they had screwed up, blamed me and wouldn't pay for the shipping back and forth and it wasn't cheap. I don't have a problem when people **** up, it's how they handle the **** up that defines who they are.
Griffin on the otherhand screwed up my rad that I ordered from them. Nothing big just put a 1 & 3/4" outlet instead of the 1 & 1/2 that I asked for. They offered to immediately take it back after admitting they would have a hard time trying to sell it being a custom piece and not something that would move quickly. PWR on the otherhand built a pretty standard intercooler for just about any FMIC setup and they gave me **** saying I fucked up somehow. Just because of Griffins attitude I kept it because I could easily make it work with a reducer on an angle as opposed to a non reducer on an angle so I kept it. The intercooler on the otherhand, there was no ******* way I could make work. I gave serious thought to throwing it up on ebizzle and taking a huge loss on it just to not run that piece. For now I'll settle for removing thier name from it that I asked NOT to paint on, they painted it on both ******* sides.
So obviously I'm going to rec a Griffin. Fluidyne seems to have some problems with quality control from what I understand. Are there any other co's down under besides PWR?

Not from down under, but there is Four Seasons Radiator, http://www.fsrradiator.com/. I have a triple pass unit of theirs that Cliff from TeamFC3S used to run, although I havent installed it yet so cannot comment on its ability.

Hey, since you are running an EWP setup, I have a few questions to bounce off you! I have been tentatively planning on running my Craig Davis EWP, but have been up in the air about the thermostat issue. Are you planning on running a straight circuit, Block-Pump-Rad, or do you plan on regulating temperature inside the block at all? I had thought about using a relay, which at rest would run the water pump through a circuit with resistor, to have SOME flow running at all times, and then have a thermostatic switch power the relay to full flow when the exiting coolant from the block reaches a certain temp, but again, no way to maintain full flow through the block at all times, and maintain proper temperature.

FSR was a great place to deal with. both myself and my FD buddy got one. both were great pieces at a reasonable price as well. for the short time I had it installed I didn't have a single heating issue.

Sick dude, sick. I guess I should've looked on the manufacturer's website first! lol
Again though, my only issue is that it's a full circuit system, which does not allow a contained circuit within the block like factory. I suppose if the E-Fan is on a thermo-switch, and happens to be off during warm-up, it's just having to warm up a larger body of coolant, as long as there isn't crazy airflow through the rad.

You've been shown more than a few websites to order hoods from, and even how to buildc your own. Personally I don't think there is anything sexy about the sexy style hood and it seems to be lacking in the functionability department but you're going to do whatever you want to anyway

No ducts
I'd be curious to see what it does for underhood temps though. Especially at speeds. I'd imagine probe placement would have a lot do with where the heat is escaping from though.

Honestly, the original reason I got the hood ordered was to go V-Mount, I think it's superior (to FMIC) in all areas except fabrication/time and cost. But, after reading more into AI, especially with BDC's results on a stock Topmount, I may not even need an intercooler at all. I'm going to try with and without an intercooler, and if I can get it to or below ambient w/o, I won't bother. I'd rather spend the extra cash on a bunch of ceramic coating of the mani's, turbo/downpipe and charge pipes.

Because frankly it's getting tiring reading your abusive posts. You seem to think you can get away with talking down to people on this forum that express their opinion or ask a simple technical question, use of excessive fowl language, etc. It's getting tiring to read, whether you have skills or not. Just a little piece of advice , you'll gain more respect on the forum if you tone down that "fat head" syndrone. If you dish it out then take it without crying to a forum mod.,Ok rockstar ?
I opened the thread hoping to read about some hoods, but like happened this morning on another thread, I was quickly distracted.
Your ability to use the quote button is only superceeded by your ability to be a jackass. Either offer insightful, helpful information, or shut up. No one comes here to be talked down upon for not knowing as much as you. If you're trying to make people more apprehensive about posting, good job.
It's pretty irritating seing half a page of your posts, quoting other people. We know what they said, we have our opinions about what they said, we just dont feel compelled to make everyone else aware of our opinions.
Shut up, just shut up shut up.
Now, I sit back and wait for you to quote each part of this post and antagonize.
Ready... Go.

Wanna bet?

There's clearly ducts pictured in that thread. I'd run that hood, but I'd prefer something more subtle.

To me a duct would mate with the core. It clearly doesn't.
