Living with my 88 RHD T2; some things I have noticed 750km into break-in.
Been driving my FC to work and back for a few days (100km each way) and there are still some things that concern me.
My biggest worry is the oil pressure. The first few times I drove it, it was in the normal part of the range (3-6kg/cm2). A few times lately the guage has gone way up to the top, past 8. It comes back down usually at a light, but it is all over the place, always at the high end of the guage. This engine only has 750km on it, and the turbo only has 700km, so I am very worried about blowing an oil seal in the turbo or something. I have had 2 different clusters in the car, and the oil pressure guage on both clusters acts the same. I plan on changing the oil tonight when I get home, hopefully that cures it. If not what's the next step? Flush the oil cooler?
Secondly, I recently installed the correct cluster for the car. It is a JDM cluster that only goes to 180kph, and is only clocked in km, no miles at all. Whenever I am travelling faster than 105kph, it beeps at me. A steady beeep.........beeep.......beeep quieter than the coolant buzzer but still super annoying. Especially on the highway for 2 hours every day. My USDM cluster did not do this, but the fuel guage on it didn't work properly and it was badly hazed up. My JDM one also has the correct mileage for the car according to the used vehicle information package. Anyone know why it does this? How to make it stop? If I don't drive over 105, I will get RUN OVER on the 407!!!
I still have the issue with flooding but have installed an interrupt switch inline with the 12v for the fuel pump to get it to start. I have noticed that when cranking the car, the fuel pump sounds like it is going into super turbo mode, but when the car is running it is much quieter. My factory electric fan also runs all the time with the ignition off. Hot or cold, doesn't matter. Key in acc or on, the fan stops running.
Any ideas appreciated as always!

i would start with the oil pressure sender, they get flakey...
the 105kph thing is the beginning of the speed limiter, which i think is like 118kph? if you search the way to disable that is known

So because of the JDM cluster my speed is limited to 118kph? That's gonna suck after break-in...I'll look into it after the engine is broken in. Not going to matter for another 4100km.

the ecu limits speed, it gets the speed input from the cluster. the US cluster uses the same wire for something else, so it will work for 20,000miles, and then shut off the rear rotor for 20,000miles
