a little how to on porting please

Ok I searched for porting, so don't get mad at me if I used the wrong keyword, but hopefully I can get soem questions about porting answered. Ok some friends an dI are doing my engine rebuild later in the year (probably around winter) but one of them is going ot help me port my engine because h ehas the right tools. I have a couple of questions on what to do for a 4port 87 13bt motor. I want a mild streetport with about a 15 horsepowergain (if tha'ts not classified as mile post what is reasonable)

1) Do you port the primary or secondary ports or both?

2) I heard th esecondary ports are larger for a momentum perspose, after all porting i sdoen should it still be larger than the primary ports?

3) I did soem research and know that you hae to stay withing th ecornerseal oil ring track guidelines and that if you move th eopening lip too low you get exhaust overlap, but if you move it lower without overlap your turbo spools quicker, and if you move the upper port lip up more you get more velocity and alonger charging stroke. So should I widen the ports near the top or bottom or both and how much in each direction without screwing up my idle too much?

4) Can you por the exhaust ports too and how much should you bore out the exhaust perrifial port if you can port it for power?

5) will I need to upgrade the fuel injectors, teak ECu, or make other adjustments after porting to keep engine in sync and running smoothly?

Any help from anyone who can answer some of these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Chris

Get a porting template from one of the vendors. Most sell streetport templates for both the intake and exhaust. It's a lot harder to make a mistake this way but practice on a bad iron first before you scew up a good one.
