So a boost controller just turns it up? HUh. Word tech guy!! You saying that when I want a little more boost like, oh lets say 11psi, (from my 8psi) that I can't turn it back down? Is that what your saying? So it just goes up and up and I can never set it back to 8psi (Yes from 11psi to 8psi, thats 3 psi less, my math says that would be turning it down) So whats the WG do there? Does it open wider, longer, sooner. Let me know since your so smart and I seem to be wrong all the time. I believe elctronic ones have a couple of settings. But according to you, once the high setting is there is no going back...
:sigh:

What everyone is saying is you can't lower boost with a boost controller UNDER that amount of boost you would run if you just had the wastegate connected to the nipple on the compressor outlet. Stock boost on a s4 t2 is somewhere around 5.5psi. Lets say you had a full 3'' exhuast and a new intake. Even without a boost controller you'd be running 13-14 pounds of boost. If you wanted to lower the boost you couldn't add a boost controller on and then lower the boost because the wastegate is already wide open, it simply can't flow enough air through the hole to run the factory pre set amount of 5.5psi. Therefore the only way to lower the boost from there is to port the wastegate hole bigger.

I said that already.... Did you read my other post. I can't turn it down past 6.5psi. And no... they said that I can't LIMIT my boost not lower it. I can limit it just fine. My controller works very well. Why can't I go lower, Barwick is running 5psi ????????(although his is ported)Not to say I can't do it. And I don't claim to go that low. So your telling me im not running 8psi? With my full turbo back and intake like you said, shouldnt I be running 13-14 like you said. So how am I running 8psi? And why can I go up to 15psi then back down. Why?

Without my MBC (direct to WG) I do run from 9psi to 12psi. With it on I can limit it to 8psi. Thats how it works in my car. Thats how it works in a lot of my friends cars around here, 3rd gens, supra's, Eclipeses, GTI's... But, with my mods I can't lower it past 6.5psi because, like you said. It can't dump it fast enough... I said all this already. I said the same thing you said... so no sighing before you read man... not fair

That defies logic.

Hmmmm I am kinda lost here.

Waste gate is a valve that controls the amount of exhaust that relieves through the turbo or bypasses the exhaust.

A boost control.....controls the waste gate.

a BOV relieves excessive designated boost.

So why can't a boost control be set to allow only so much to be pass through the turbo...which thus limits boost.

This is minus varibles such as intake temps and etc.

This thread is supposed to be about boost creep, and no boost controller in the world can fix that. If boost has been increased because of mods, it is impossible for a boost controller to lower it to where it was before the mods.

Virus, if you knew how boost controllers worked, you wouldn't be claiming you can lower boost with one...

ha so im a internet tough guy... hmmm

i gues knowing what im talking about and sticking to is is now known as getting a attiude.

BE HOLD!!! FROM NOW ON IF YOU ARE RIGHT YOU ARE MAD!!! hmmm talk about defying logic.. someone with 44 posts is trying to teach people.. by feeding them false info.

I bet you have a autometer boost gauge right? they are off by a few psi so you may see lower boost sometimes on your gauge.. but your motor is still seeing what the turbo is making.

--------------------------------------------------
Waste gate is a valve that controls the amount of exhaust that relieves through the turbo or bypasses the exhaust.

more like

Waste gate is a valve that controls the amount of exhaust that relieves through the turbo and is dumped into the exhaust to keep that flow from spinning the hotside faster and making more boost..
-----------------------------------------------

ok as far as boost creep goes.. port the WG... get a S5 turbo and mani if its in your budget and port it AND (if need be) add a cat, replace stock airbox.. ect.

adding stuff back on sux to me... just port the hell out of the WG. Do a search on it.. there is lots of threads for "DIY WG port" from how big to go to tips to make it flow better.

and thats my $.02.

jaared --- its jared.. but i add an "a" so its said JaahRED.

you name virus.. is true to what you seem to be, dont be a troll

MBC's cannot lower boost to under stock levels. Why? The wastegate actuator has a spring in it that compresses under 5lbs of pressure. So the wastegate will NOT open under 5psi regardless of whatever stupid boost controller you use. If you want to say "I can set it to 12psi then lower it to 8, so it does lower it", pull your head out of your ***.

Hmm... Well liquid filled VDO but I dunno your the tough guy.

I hope that not a pic of your car cause..........

Well my car holds at 8psi and before the controller I was at about 9psi and 11+ in higher gears. But I guess im wrong since all of you are the formost authority on logic

hmmm talk about defying logic.. someone with 44 posts is trying to teach people..
I dont know what the number of posts I have has anything to do with this...
It just means you either have nothing to do other than sit at home with you comp, typing with one hand...
Or you are really old... But thats ok you dont seem to value other peoples opinions which is why me, and all my friends with Rx7's seem to stay away from this place... I tryed to say..no we help each other... And these guys have some of the best rx7's I have ever seen, here or anywere...

HAha this one is still cool

That makes no sense at all, and I don't think you're telling us the full story. Read dr0x's explantion above on why boost controllers cannot lower boost. He is completely correct. Boost controllers raise boost by lowering the pressure sent to the wastegate actuator. The only way to lower boost would be to raise the pressure sent to the actuator to a level higher than the turbo is producing. Please explain how that is possible.
I dont know what the number of posts I have has anything to do with this...
I totally agree on that point, but in this case you are wrong.
...you dont seem to value other peoples opinions which is why me, and all my friends with Rx7's seem to stay away from this place...
This has got nothing to do with opinions, it's about technical facts. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but if you can't handle being corrected on fact, then you might as well stay way.

Well I may be wrong about a thing or two, but my car holds at 8psi. And before it was well over 10psi. Despite it not making any sense to most of you it is how my car is set up. And the fact is that I can turn it down to 6.5 psi with a bit of creep. I dunno if this makes you guys upset(because of the logic thing)but you guys seem a bit edgy. well thats how it is... thats a fact. Other wise no more use in arguing about it.

If you still dont believe me I invite any of you to take a ride in my TII and test out the MBC. It goes from 6.5psi and up.(never gone past 11 with it though) We can drive it at 8 then drop it to 6.5 so maybe some one will believe me. And no there is nothing wrong with my car. It is tuned very well, and runs really strong, so no... there has to be something wrong with your car, beacuse we have this set up on 2 cars.

Haha Why is he poking him?

ok all of us that knowwhat we are talking about need to leave this guy to his own devices.

He jacked the thread.... we all fell for it. So in a way we are the fools for letting him lead us on.

this topic is about limiting boost. the mbc will not do that, but the new super penismighter version that virus has WILL let you lower boost below normal levels and can go back in time at 88mph.

so any one that knows what they are talking about please dont reply to this guy anymore, let him be.... and to the people asking how to limit boost... this thread has some stuff to help you out, just discard what virus has said, its not true in real life only on his and his friends car it is.

Im done here.. call me names, act a fool, but please dont pass false info as turth. this is a place to get help and giving false info can hurt someones car.

jaared and im out

QUOTE]dont pass false info as turth. this is a place to get help and giving false info can hurt someones car[/QUOTE]

I never told anyone to do anything. I was simply curious as to how Barwick ran 5.5psi. Thats all. I never gave anyone any info... I did not post any advise.

This is why I don't post...everyone always argues and fights on these forums.

JaredColletti: Sorry if I ruined your thread!!
Was not ment to turn out like this, these guys attack and now im in my own world... I appologize to you!!

And, Ajaaraad you go beez outz!!

That's what happens when you disable the S5's stock electronic boost control.

They're only arguing with you...

I'm still waiting for your explanation of how your boost controller lowers boost.

Where do I get this ***** Mightier? I'll take two!

As for the know-it-all, there's a difference between spreading opinion, and spreading what you believe to be a technical fact. That gets people angry...
