Oh yeh, let me add this to anyone who is rebiulding the diff: 3000 miles after you do it, change the fluid.

If the other wheel does not turn or turns the same direction that points to having a clutch type LSD. This test only works on the clutch type. It sounds to me based on your description that you have an LSD that the wrong gear oil (the 84-88 clutch type used an LSD additive or a specific for LSD gear oil) was used in or that the rear end is worn out.

help me out here,

i just got a t2 diff thats currently out of the car, (2 big rims, 11 cooling fins),
I turned the stub axle on one side, the other turns the opposite direction ???
the diffs not working correctly ?

Worn out LSD or its an open diff.

What year TII? If it's an S5, then it's a viscous LSD and the "spin the tire" test won't work well.
