a lil help please

hi im new to the second gens i have a first right now but im think of getting a second gen and the only thing is thats wrong is the ecu and im trying to figure out if its worth it, and about how much dos a ecu run, and if i get one can i jus plug it up and go.

Your profile say you have an '82 which is first gen. I know even less squat about 1st gens than the little squat I know about 2nd gens. But in the event you do have an 86 or newer be cautioned that there are differences between the S4 & S5 ECU's. Ya need to know which year you are in need of.

I picked an S5 ECU in a junk yard for $25. Try the parts for sale forum on this site and Ebay. Not uncommon to find them for sale.

its a 86 gxl so i need to know if i purchase a ecu should i be able to plug it up and go. i was was told that it had no spark. so the seller said it was the ecu but i dont know so can someone give me some other possible symptoms.

bad sparkplugs (wires too), could be a number of things electrical. try ecu and spark plug and wires first from there i dunno but have fun hah

The ECU seldom go "bad", by themselves. When they do go bad it is usually because of owner tampering or modifications to the smog system.
