life expectency of a 87 n/a 1.3 motor?

I recently bought a 1987 N/A with 156k miles on it, the car sat for a few years but is in really clean shape, the only problems I have had so far are the emergency brake cable was hanging up and caused my rear pads to wear out, I replaced them and the fronts as well and disconected the brake cable until I can get a new one. the tank was full of bad gas and I had to drain and flush the tank and replace the pump and filter before I could even get it to run. changed the fluids throughout of course and a few hoses here and there.

the motor runs really strong and doesnt smoke at all even on startup or make any type of weird noises. I was wondering if this motor maybe had been rebuilt at some point or if they just run this good with around 160k miles on them? I bought the car from an older gentlemen that was unsure of its history.

thanks in advance for any replies

I also have an 87n/a, mine has 155k on it and runs awsome! im expecting it to go a full 200k. to make sure you got all the gunk out of the fuel system i would run some injector cleaner in the next couple of tanks to clear the rest of it out.
Aaron has a great page on what to do with your new 7 to make sure its up to standards

sweet thanks for the welcome and the info. I actually put a bottle of injector cleaner in it today when I got home from work. I have run about 5 or 6 tanks of 93 through it already since I have owned it and it seems to run better everyday. very happy with the power it makes for a n/a car. fun as hell to drive

nice to hear it works good. Nice preperation by the way for a long sitting car. Alot of people would just fill her up and get her going, clogging up the fuel system and having shitty assed performance.

Just so you know, higher octane fuel does not make the car run better, or faster for an NA. There is also nothing cleaner in the fuel than regular 87. If its the same price or actually cheaper, than it don't matter. But if you payed 10c more a liter for that ****, you wasted your money.
