there was a guy makin them a while back, but it wasn't lexan. Or was it? Well, whatever. Do a search and you should find the group buy threads and stuff. Contact the guy... Maybe he's still has some. Moon roofs on fcs are dumb in my opinion though since there is always light coming through them. There is no way t shade it off besides just having a tinted roof and then it's like "whats the point?" I'll stick to the sunroof option myself.

you got it sureshot, I dont want the rust. Anyway I've done a search and all the post available say they dont remeber where they got them. Someone has to be making these, come on!! I've even done a google search, theres threads but no sources. Im willing to pay the money as long as its not ripping me off.

thanx nyc, my car is currently in storage also for the winter. Much appreciated, my sunroof is starting to rust under the seal around it. I really like the lexan/glass but glass as you know is rare. When I take my car out in the spring I plan on having everything I want to replace/install(like my suspension). Some of my family live in Long Island, where abouts are you in NYC?

I would consider making them again, but you know 2nd gen owners, unless it is for sale at half the cost that it takes to make it, nobody wants to buy it.

Maybe $100-$150 including labor.
But glass is the way to go. Lexan gets scratched very easy. Hell a bird craps on it and you go to scrub it off and you don't have enough water and a Lexan roof would scratch.
See I want to get a hold of a Glass one. I am convinced that the glalss one could be done and sold for around $200, but I need to get a hold of one to see.
if it could I would build 10 glass ones of them and see how they sell

here something icemark, you have a website for buying stuff for us. You should make one or two then put them on your website and see if they sell. I was looking at lexan for sale on ebay and it doesnt seem to expensive to buy the lexan. example

how far is upland from you anyway?

i think the GB price was around $200, i forget. one of the guys who had one of them was supposed to sell me his for cheap, but he never got around to it...
all i know is that as much as i want a glass sunroof, if someone were to try and make and sell one, it would probably be too expensive for most FC owners to actually buy it...
maybe under $300 and people would commit...
i'm thinking of going to a glass shop and seeing how much they want to duplicate the stock sunroof...
oh, btw there is a type of polycarbonate plastic (like Lexan) that is used as home window replacements...these are just as light and strong, however are much more scratch resistant. this may be a good alternative if someone decides to make them??

Yeah, the big reason I would consider making them is because I want one for my 88 10thAE.
But making cool custom stuff for FC owners typically is a loosing proposition. In '04 I lost more money on R&D, tooling, and building custom parts (like exhaust systems, or Blue indicator Logicons) than I made. And I just spent a grand doing testing on 3" stainless downpipes for turbos and, looks to be about another $1000 to build build the first production run.
So, I am only luke warm about investing any more unless I am sure it would sell, or it can be sold for next to nothing.

Usually about 5 intrested people = 1 single sale, when you ask for the money.

I once considered a cheap home made lexan cut-out, but a flat panel on a domed roof looks dorky/cheap/getto.
Yea - I'm a cheapskate, but I don't want to look like one.
My edge rust has just begun, so I have some time to find an affordable solution.

There should be a way of taking deposits. Then a time frame for it to be completed. Within that time frame if the person backs out they lose that deposit. If the product is crap by general consensus, then deposits refunded. If the work isnt completed by time frame, then deposits refunded. I agree with IceMark.............

So...........what difference does it make what pics I use for example. Lexan was an idea before I saw the glass one. Icemark said hes gonna try to get his hands on one so he could possible produce them, for cheaper!! Its like having a pattern to outline, ya know!! Anyway im not in any hurry for it my cars in storage so spring production would be fine!!
