Lets play find the plug... :(

Ok, i know there is some plug you have to jumper to get the fuel pump to run. Ive got an 87 TII and the closest description is r/h (which i am asuming is righthand) front strut tower. Driver or passenger (r/h can be either ) Its yellow too right?

No, there is one down there. Try around the boost sensor, like on the harness right below it. It sticks out of the wiring. I'll go look. Hell, I'll go take a picture :-D

Passenger side, right between the turbo inlet duct and the boost sensor. It's a yellow connector, and will have a green (I believe) one coming out of the harness right next to it.

How long should you let it run????? Whatcha doing? Looking for leaks?? Key has to be on also. With a cold engine I jumpered it for close to thrity minutes to determine if I had a fuel leak or not. It started puddling below the rear of the engine after about fifteen minutes. I had a fuel injector whos body was leaking. Not where it attaches to the fuel rail but the actual body was delaminating b/t the top third and the center. Old cars......

If the car is dying under 2000 RPM, most likely a vacuum leak somewhere. What did you do to your car between the time it ran and now?

Oh, it was this thread https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...5&pagenumber=2

and jacobcarmill suggested the fuel filter and I suggested making the tps lite assy. On the tps, try this.....engine fully hot, turn it off, turn the key to on, put lite assy in place, turn the screw counterclockwise until it almost comes out, not turn clockwise until one llight comes on....then slowly further clockwise until both lights are on......then anticlockwise slowly until only one light is on. Thru.

That won't fix your present problem, but might help setting the tps. I'm at a loss for whats wrong, right now. Try disconnecting the tps and driving around the block. Better???? Not a real good guess, but worth doing.

On the intake duct, there is a smaller hose of about one half inch dia that connects to it just prior to the throttle body. Is it on good at both ends???

well it was runnin fine (cept for 3800rpm studder ) untill early July. Turns out i had a blown gasket in between my turbo and exhaust manifold. So after another month of waiting on mazda for parts I get the car back together and running pretty well. Then it starts dieing on me. has no power, and bucks when it gets into boost . Then it wouldnt even go past 2K even when i floored it. So i started replacing stuff in the fuel system. I got the fuel filter changed and it now starts and revs. It has a slight backfire sometimes when it comes below 3K. and it just doesnt idle for anything. I only replaced rubber hosing in between the turbo and hot side of the intercooler. I also replaced (obviously) the gaskets in the exhaust. I know im missin the pill in the boost sensor line. but that shouldnt affect idle. I didnt mess with the BAC either. only thing i ajusted was the TPS. and that should be in spec now. The AFM also tested out ok when i checked it. now what?

TIA
Troy

it sounds to me like a hose has come off somewhere. When I forget to connect my brake booster hose and I start the car it won't idle, and I gotta get the revs up, and then it starts backfiring like someone is shooting at me. under 3K. Then I say oh crap, the vacuum hose.

Maybe you have dirty injectors? Mine have clogged since I've owned the car (less than 2 years) and my engine is out now because of it.

Thanks Piranha! I got my car back together after the TB mod and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't idle. Did a search, this thread came up, I did a little reading..........and I learned what happens when you forget to put the brake booster hose back on.

Troy,
Use Either starting fluid with upper cylender lubricant so that it wont dry anything out. If there is any change in speed on rpms then there is a leak. Everyone says that if it jumps its a leak, well it can also almost kill it. Also get some injector cleaner and put it in your tank and do what I told you to do with the reving to see if they were clogged.

Also to clean better and faster put one bottle to a half tank of gas, two bottles to a full tank, or half a bottle to a quarter tank.
