we are expecting snow..doing mechanical storage steps..draining fuel line(pulling gei fuse and letting it "starve out"..covering holes(air in with tape ..exhaust also..vermin protection)..goin to put a little ATF in each plug hole and kick the starter just enough for a coat of atf in the housings..just have to jack the car up enough to relieve the springs (but not let the wheels "dangle") pump tires to 50 lbs psi.,...wrote that for info..now question..should i use a car cover?..storing indoors is not an option ..car is not "papered " for the road so I can't drive it out of the yard!..so ..CAR COVER..yes or no...?ANY OTHER INFO GREATLY APPRECIATED!>..THANKS IN ADVANCE!

i was debating car cover..I got 4 nylon tarps and got them sewn together to cover most of the car..it won't cover all of the car(and my luck..couldn't get any more tarps!) but it will sit on topand cover end to end..now a couple of guys i talked to about using a cover say I shouldn't because it will hold in moisture..and since the snow will get at the bottom of the car .I am wondering if i should even bother at all to cover it..the sun may make the covered/not covered areas different.......so ,anyone..car cover?yes or no..thanks!

Maybe you dont know this...but a car cover is like 25 bucks. Go to Kragens, schucks, advanced auto etc and take a look. If anything I would tarp the bottom of the car so that when the snow evaporates it doesnt mist up and rust the bottom of your car. But alas I know nothing of snow so it might be BS

thats a good point about the moisture. didnt really consider that well no matter what there will be wetness on the car right? if there were to be snow on it all the time... why not buy a tent to cover it? they are in expensive and pretty good. then you can put some wood down and park the car over it. and if you had the tent with the closeable fronts it would be pretty good then snow wouldnt touch ANY of it. thats your best bet

I would get a big tent for the car....

Its not recommended that a car cover stays on the car for more than one week at a time, the cover and car must be dry when the cover goes in.

It keeps the moisture out, however if any gets under the cover it will also keep that moisture in.

ya the moisture thing started runnin through my mind afterwards ..just cheap old me..tarps!..i'm just going to let the winter take it..and hopefully it will be fogiving..body wise it will need work anyways and i have various thoughts about puchasing a new shell,new car and so on..(you know newbie.."i wanna do this and this thoughts!")..so I'll just leave it at that..thanks for the information though people..much appreciated from this end..msiterstyx69

If I'm not mistaken, this is covered in great detail in the FAQ. NEVER allow ATF to sit in the engine for a long time. It will eat the oil o-rings.

As for shelter, the best thing you can do outisde is to put the car under a breathable car cover. Park it on concrete/asfault. You are always going to get some moisture coming up from the ground, so you will probably want to park on a large sheet of plastic.

Like aaron said, dont use atf to store it! Squirt some oil in the leading plug holes of both housings and turn the car over by hand every couple weeks or so. Also, storing it on gravel will increase the chances of rusting the bottom of the car, asphalt and concrete are better by far.
