If he's stock, then his blow-off valve is recirculated and you can't hear it, unless he just took it off and is dumping to atmosphere (which makes teh car stall/run like crap on decel)

I think you should do the setup and start it, or will you disappear like so many others?

Say what? The TII and N/A coupe chassis are the same... the RB downpipe and presilencer will fit my car exactly like a TII.

I'm using modified S4 TII intake manifolds, at least that's what I have in the parts bin now... I may swap to S5 TII's before final assembly. If you want to part with your oil fill tube, I could use it.

Have you figured out the OMP rod yet? Are you swapping to a TII unit or mod'ing the stock N/A? I'm guessing the TII rod will be a direct fit.

yeah thats why your downpipe fits, your using tII intakes, im not, bolting the manifold to the existing block with the custom spacer (2.5 inches). i have to fab a downpipe, yay for me :-)

as for the intake, i like aaroncakes "strawberry" thing because im also using a front mount, i wanna try and refine it though...which just means more fabrication. i actuly saw someone who used the black plastic elbow already attached to the intake, i think this would drop boost though considering 2 inch IC piping would go into the like, 3.5 inch plastic piping elbow, then into the intake.

PS: i bought those injectors

Yeah, that spaced out turbo manifold is going to hurt you. I chose to go the simpler (read: non-welding) way and use the TII intake manifolds and block everything off.

I'm using a Volvo 760 intercooler because I found one in a local junkyard ($30 out the door, woo!) it flows well, and it fits easily by spacing the stock radiator back about 2.5 inches. You may want to consider the same, since they go on ebay for about $50 plus shipping.

i like the cutting welding part.

plus its more power, using my intake
not much, like 15hp

but, its kinda like a "while in rome" thing

****, you gotta do some port matching though, see ide rather fab a downpipe than port match, that **** intimidates me

intercooler wise im front mounting the stock tII intercooler, if funds allow im gonna go with a bigger IC

There really aren't any dynos that directly compair the two, so I wouldn't go guessing numbers. Considering how long, narrow, and curved the S4 N/A runners are, I'd rather stick with the shorter, yet still narrow S4 TII manifolds. I'd much rather port match then weld, though.

The TII uses a really small core, that bothers me. The 760 is an easy fit, is significantly larger, is cheap, and has well-placed 2.5 inch inlets and outlets stock. I really can't find a reason to not use it in a budget build. I already had a stock TMIC before I grabbed the 760.

PLEASE KEEP THIS THREAD ON TOPIC, OR IT WILL BE CLOSED.

This is not an STI forum. This thread is already on thin ice considering it's yet another turbo-NA thread.

Thanks.

Aaron: thanks for the moderation, yet again. As always:

Sonic: I got the "how to" part covered

Everyone: Hopefully first set of pics today of some of the parts that i will be using, along with some current engice shots.

my turbo is comming from all mighty canada, so i expect that to take up to a week, however, fuel pump, boost and a/f gauges, BOV, Racing Beat stuff (flanges and piping) will hopefully be at my door today.

plus i have to get this stupid valve on my right rear tire changed out, it leaks bad, and i wont be boosting anything if i have a constant flat tire.

oh, and check this out:
this is pretty much and exact copy of the way i plan to run my intercooler piping:

the thing is, i have almost 4 feet of that 2 in' piping from racing beat, but its 1/8 in' wall thickness, iwould it be alright to use this in that big run, right after the turn where his BOV is? and would the rest of the piping also need to be 1/8 in thick. thanks, krok

....i think i just decided against this actully, weight factor.

i was thinking of using that silicon IC piping from another post on these boards. but i think ill stick with run of the mill aluminum. also, the IC piping from the pic above (thanks: http://users2.ev1.net/~ccoutts/turbo..._a_project.htm )
his piping has NO bends, its all 90 degree couplers, do you think all these sudden quick bends is choking the turbo at all?

Yikes, that piping looks pretty bad. Those 9 degree plumbing things will blow off rather easily.

If you're going to set it up like that, I would mock it up with the 90 degree rubber bends, then take the whole mess to an exhaust shop and have them bend you a good version in two pieces.

aaron, would you recommend more gradual bends? i think the air slamming into those bends would choke the turbo a bit
