Bottom line, young drivers are a cash cow for insurance companies. IMO, most young chicks and soccer moms driving daddies expedition who are blabbing away on their cell phones scare me more than a young guy. They develope that habit when they get there license and keep doing it for the rest of their lives.
You have no idea the traffic conditions that was done in (assuming it was on the road). Atleast he didnt mention weaving in and out of traffic while going 90mph trying to play TF&TF (Im sure most of us have seen those vids on some celica forums). A quick sprint down an empty road isnt the end of the world. Even if you've said you have never done it, Id never believe you.

You're getting off topic here but I'll indulge...
why are bikes cheaper? (for starters with full coverage its compareable cost wise) its because of percentages and liability.
1)There are more guys who drive cars then bikes - therefore bikes are less risky to insure.
2)More accidents caused by vehicles result in large liability claims such as telephone poles, barrier replacement and other costly property damage claims that are far more costly and common in car collisions then with bikes.
On the note of whether or not I have gunned a car down the street - yeah, damn right I have.......have I ever street raced? no. Thats the truth, believe it or not - the track is far safer (unarguable) and anyone who wants to race on the street with me only wants to do so because they don't want to be embarrased infront of a crowd of people, they would rather take their defeat on a lonely backroad and scurry away with their tail between their legs.......
Thats the truth. But you can't HONESTLY expect to try and start an argument that somehow even remotely justifies street racing - because its 100% unjustifiable, any beefs had between drivers should be setteled at the strip - THATS WHAT ITS THERE FOR.......

I used to have a 1990 eclipse GST same car as a TSI FWD. They are mega fast compared to stock rx7 N/A. They were rated in the 190hp 205torque range. All TSI's were turbocharged. There was never an Eagle talon GT.

Even in NA trim the 4g63 is a formidable oponent. They have a weakness in the transmissions. Race him enough and it will break.

Am I an idiot or are you saying N/A eclipse and talons are formidble opponents? Or is the N/A trim of a 4G not the same engine as the n/a cars?

In a DSM you have two NA engines. The 1.8 4g91 which is SOHC, or the 4g63 which is DOHC. The 4g63 NA has the same head, intake, etc. as the turbo motor with bumped up compression. The 4g63 NA can and has been built to over 300HP all motor. Mitsubishi did their home work on the head as it flows massive numbers, turbo'd or not. So for RX7 NA and DSM 4g63 NA with similiar mods it's always gonna be a close race. <--Thats what I meant by formidable opponent.

I thought only the 1989 Mitsubishi Eclipse had that blasted SOHC 1.8l 4-cylinder...

4G63 or 4G37, Snowball? Now with 862 posts under your belt, I sure as hell hope you mean the 4G63 2.0 Litre Dual-cam and not the 4G37 1.8 Litre single-cam with 92 crank HP. :-p
Yes, DSMs, oh the fun! GS-T Eclipse - FWD Turbo
GSX Eclipse - AWD Turbo
TSi Talon - FWD Turbo
TSi AWD Talone - AWD Turbo
I had a 1.8 Eclipse. Slow as *****, but still it was slightly amusing when you were alone. Felt like you were going so much faster than you really were, but then you have another car in view and realize you're going slow as hell...

The 1.8 was available to grandma's and daddy's girls until 1994. Came in the base model. The 1989 eclipse is highly debated as well as the 1990 starion. While I'm unsure of the eclipse I know that Starions were sold in europe and Japan as a 90 model, but the US and Aussies saw the last ones roll in during 1989.

Your friend is wrong then, hon, sorry. I know for a fact that the GS-T is a FWD car and the GSX is AWD. And 1G DSMs were all the same across the board.
I bought the 1.8 on purpose, knowing full well they were slow, but solid little engines. Plus, easy as hell to work on.
