just your average turbo swap question...kinda
so a while back my car was downed due to the motor loosing compression (after over 200k on the motor and chassis). so after a bit of searching and pondering about what i would do, a friend who was going to rebuild my motor said, "don't bother with trying to find an NA block to build, just take what parts you already bought for a rebuild and get a turbo block and put together a turbo motor." so that is what happened, he found a block in good condition (just a block) for a reasonable price and i went ahead and started buying the last remaining parts for the rebuild. well now the parts are on their way and im starting to realize that this will be a bit harder than i thought. my car is a 91 and this block was from an 88. i already plan on using the stock na drivetrain just to get the car running since i don't plan on beating on the motor for a while, i just need to know how the wiring situation will work now. i was given a free s5 turbo harness and i figured since the car itself is an s5 it would simplify things but i just don't understand what i will need to change up since the motor itself was an s4. i am having a hard time understanding just what needs to be done to make this motor run in my chassis so any simplification would greatly help me on this endeavor.

A lot..... follow this link to answer a lot of your questions.....

you really needed a S5 TII engine to rebuild. It really complicates things when you mix series when trying to do this swap. I've learned all this through doing the swap on my convertible. You will need the electronics from a 89-91 engine, you already have the harness, and you will also need a TII computer from 89-91. That link is very helpful in answering a lot of questions. You will be able to do this, it's just going to take some work, time, and money.

Its gunna be a PITA. you're going to need all the S5 turbo engine parts that go onto the keg.
Like: front cover and its sub accessories, all the intake parts and it electronics like injectors and TPS etc etc, you'll need a turbo AFM and the downpipe coming off of it going to the turbo inlet, you'll need either a S4 or S5 turbo and the coolant and oil tubes to the turbo, you'll be making your own downpipe, the hood will close with the stock top mount intercooler still on but you're not going to cook your air that way so you're option there is Turbo hood or FMIC, the NA trans with bolt up but you'd need to have the NA clutch and flywheel assembly installed for it to work, the S5 wiring harnesses work back and forth so you're good there but you're gunna need a N370 ECU.
Its a bit of work.
Elaborate... and ya might wanna follow the link in my signature and ... search. So you're doing a NA block turbo'd or getting a Turbo engine Swap? Either way your list is way larger than Hood, engine, ECU.

I just want the basic, I found an engine with harness and ecu. the the hoods just for the look of the tII. But I need a basic list of what it needs to run. To swap a nonturbo with the tII.
