You're just asking to blow your engine. Intake temps skyrocket in a matter of seconds when you run > 12 psi on the stock turbo and TMIC. You're right, it definitely is faster than 10 psi, until you blow your motor. I datalogged my intake temps on my Haltech at 15 psi (stock turbo and TMIC), and I had to let off because intake temps were like 220 deg. Just a warning...

You asked what was safe, and I think 4psi is pretty safe if you monkey with the car. The Mazda engineers deemed 6.56psi as the safe limit.
