Just ordered a clutch kit
#2
i think you already ordered it and no matter what WE say you'll still have to pay for it. I really don't know anything about that clutch. Put it on and let US know so if it IS good we'll buy it later.

You probably shoulda went with the XTD (by Aimco) Stage 3 clutch kit. It can hold 420horse/418Torque and you could get it off ebay like ya did that one. Plus its only 158 bucks plus shippin. BUT oh well...

All I need is an S5 counterweight to replace the S4 one that came with it.

gripforce
Just helped a buddy install one of those over the weekend into his little civic. We found it on ebay but they were local(20mins away in brea, CA) so we drove out to go check it out in person. He ended up pickin up a pressure plate which they claim is as good as the act heavy duty, they said 1900lbs of pressure or something. The flywheel looked pretty good and weighed in at 10.5 lbs pre-balanced for his car, and it was near the same thickness as the stocker(maybe a quarter inch thinner). Clutch disk looked good was a gripforce stage2 good for I think around 300 hp and tq or something like that. On ebay they had 100% positive with 20,000 sales and ofered a 10,000mile or 1yr warranty whichevers first. The clutch bites hard and launches pretty good. I cant tell the difference and I'm running an act xtreme pp and disc in my 7. Going out to brea helped a lot cause he customised his package beyond what they sell as a stage 2. He got the flywheel, stage 2 disc, and pp that was better than their stage 2 one for 300. Everything was included in the kit, alignment tool, pilot bearing, and throwout and quality looked to be pretty good but only time will tell.
O yea, no chatter, works great, no problems so far

I just helped my buddy replace his clutch on saturday. He bought a Gripforce stage 3 strung 6 puck clutch from ebizzle. I was very surprised that it was as smooth as it was. If you dogged it at low rpm, it chattered, but was very nice otherwise. I was disappointed at the high pedal engagement of it, but there wasn't any slipage. Well it's not like I would notice any on an N/A with nonfuctional aux ports anyhow. Do be warned that the throw out bearing feels very cheap. I would say the TO bearing would be the weak point of the whole install. Overall, it's a solid unit and was build pretty well.

I am running that clutch in my T2 but just had it put in last week so I cant really say how good it is. All I know is that it is way better than the clutch that was previously in it. I can now chirp the tires changing into second. I was going to do it myself but it seemed like a big job. The mechanics said it was a pain in the *** to do. As far as where it starts to grab, it needs to be adjusted at the pedal, has nothing to do with the clutch. Mine grabs as soon as I get off the floor. I had to have my flywhell machined and while they were at it I had them replace the rear engine seal, pilot bearing and seal and of course the release bearing. There is absolutely no noise when I release the clutch in neutral. There was someone on here that said that his only lasted 6,000 miles though, hopefully it was from poor installation.

I've used gripforce stock replacements - zero issues.
I'm using their HD pressure plate with a centerforce street disc (sprung) right now in a 1/2 Bridged T04-S car.
No issues so far.
Sure, be weary of cheap products, but I've had good success with these in the past and present.

I just got my XTD stage 3 a few days ago. I blew my motor, but after I put a new one in in a few days I will also have the clutch in. How did you break in the clutch? I didnt see any instructions on how to do so. The last clutch I got for my NA (I have a turbo now) I got locally and it was a stage 2 ceramic 6 puck. His break in instructions were beat the sh*t out of it. haha Needless to say that clutch is STILL holding strong after beating the sh*t out of it 8000 miles later. I'm confused on what the break in process is for. Do you want to smooth things out? Do you want to slowly release the clutch and slip it as much as you can for 500 miles? I don't understand why, I have never had to wear in brakes or anything... *shrugs*
~Thanks
