Just Bought On E-bay
Well, I've gone and done it! Bought an 88 vert on e-bay, what an idiot! - looks good in photo though and has only 70,000 miles.
Now I have to go through all the crap of getting the thing from Cleveland up to Ontario - hopefully drive it if I can get the paperwork together.
Now the question - Transport Canada tells me the car requires 'bumper modification' - but can't tell me anything else - anyone got an idea what difference their can be between a US bumper and a Canadian one? By the way I paid $4505US for an 'as is' car - what an idiot!

The canadian bumbers are quite different from the US versions. Considerably heavier and have a small shock absorber as part of the assembly.
To convert it to canadian specs you would need the following parts:
For the rear:
Canadian reinforment bar P/N FB11-50-331
spacer UPPER RIGHT P/N FB11-50-351
spacer Upper left P/N FB11-50-352
spacer lower P/N FB11-50-342
Right Absorber P/N FB11-50-300
Left Absorber P/N FB11-50-390
Absorber plate right P/N FB11-50-280
Absorber plate left P/N FB11-50-290
The front is a little better, since the 'verts use a slightly different set up, but you will need:
Seal Plate P/N FB11-50-071
Left absorber P/N FB11-50-171
Right absorber P/N FB11-50-172
Reinforment bar P/N FB11-50-151
Maybe there is some out of country conversion law that allows you to import it without changing all the parts, you might want to check, other wise you'll have at least a $400 USD in parts (if you have to replace with new parts)

Thanks for the quick reply - can I assumme that these are all 'under the skin' parts and I will still have the original plastic parts?
Do you know if the front parts will work from any Can car 86-90 or are they unique to a vert.

Those are all "under the skin" parts.
The 'vert is already equipped with a few different parts that the coupes don't have, however those vert parts are the same whether or not the car is Canadian spec or not.
The parts that I listed are the same for all (coupes and verts) so you could pull them off any Canadian spec 86-88 model RX-7

that was actually a car I was "watching" on ebay. It looked great from the pics, but I just don't have the "guts" to buy a car without getting in and driving it first. Let us know how the deal turned out.
