just bought a 90 GTUs. have a clutch problem??
i just bought my friend's 1990 GTUs. it needs some minor cosmetic work but runs very smooth and strong. Have questions regarding the clutch. I hope you guys can help me out.
My friend had ACT clutch installed. He does not know exactly which pressure plate, clutch disc, etc.
First question is, are ACT(once again, i dont know specifically which model, but I'm assuming OEM replacement) pressure plate "softer" at the clutch-pedal, compared to stock?
I've bled the system clean with Castrol LMA Brake Fluid. Hoping to get a better feel at the pedal. Bleeding the system did not improve anything noticeable. The clutch still "catches" very high, about 2-3 inches of pedal travel and it disengages. And it feels like it engages right before it "runs out" of clutch-pedal travel. Is it possible to adjust the contact point relative to the pedal?
I've been told by some that premature wear of clutch disc and flywheel can be the cause of this and I may need to re-install a fresh new clutch kit including flywheel, clutchdisc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, etc.....
Thanks in advance, hope to hear from all soon.

In Addition:
It's been about 4 days since flushing the clutch fluid. Today, I noticed the fluid in the reservoir is dirty as can be. Does this mean my mastercylinder needs to be replaced? Can this be the cause of my clutch problems?

If the clutch catches high, it is most likely a worn disk or the clutch pedal needs adjustment. There is a freeplay/disengagement-height adjustment section in the FSM.
Info on the ACT clutch is available here:

Download the clutch PDF from the manuals section:
