jumpy idle, then suddenly stops

so today, coming home from the store some guy tried cutting me off so i sped up(stepping on the gas pretty hard) and when i got home the idle was bouncing from 1000 to 1500 and when it would drop from 1500 to 1000 if would sound kinda weird(like a fart kinda sound) sort of like "vrooom, pfpfpfpf, vrooom, pfpfpfpf"

well anyways, i disconnected the battery and restarted the car, and the problem went away.. what could this have been?

The disconnecting of the battery has no affect on the car as the ECU does not store information which can be reset on an S4.

i'm just wondering why the car was freaking out in the first place.. i started the car 3 times, and every time it would do the same weird idle.. and when i unhooked the battery it stopped. maybe a coincidence? what do you think it could have been?
