Option Magazine is by no means an authority on what is good and what isnt. Basically, like any magazine, the more money you pay, the more play you get. Advertising dollars...Option D1 Grand Prix, the results are very very skewed.
The Options article covers nearly all aspects; from interviews with the manufacturers regarding the application of their coilovers, to analysis of each type on an actual suspension dyno.

TEIN and JIC are not built in house. They are assembled in Japan, but all the components are outsourced to factories in China or Korea.
Can this information be verified through JIC or Tein? It's not that I find it unbelievable, but that theres typically no verifyable references involved when this type of informations given out. Thanks.

I read the article in RX7 Magazine, and the JICs topped even the Kei Offices. They said something along the lines of, "The coilovers give an excellent feeling when driving and an unbelievable feeling when accelerating up a hill. Cornering grip is unparalleled."

My JIC's came back and I put them in. They came with new seals, new oil, and new bushings. Good stuff, and friendly service. I'm pleased.

Silk Road private labels a lot of their suspension.

I think I may go Groundcontroll with Koni's and camber plates.

Rishie is trying to get me to get the Zeal B2's, they are almost the same price as GC koni's but twice the suspension.

What makes them ‘twice’ the suspension?

Where can I find more info on them? I the piece I found was $1700 (with front camber plates). ...and they only have 2 choices for springs.

The Koni GC setup is $1300 (with front camber plates) and any spring rate you can imagine.

Just curious why you say this?

I had the JIC FLT A2 and I now have the Zeal V6's. The V6's are much nicer than the JIC's.... the build quality is superior for sure. I didn't get much time with the JIC's but the Zeals have been awesome both on the street and in drifting.

I would be VERY weary of purchaing JIC's in teh states. The customer service here is in bad shape. I have personally spoken to at least 3 people who have had problem getting warantee service at all. One being a shop that sent a damper in for repair. JIC ignored then and procrastinated, and then said they lost it, couldn't find it and would not replace it. So the shop was out the money since they recomended the product and the customer was out of a car while all this went on.

That coupled with the fact that one of the lead customer service managers quit, or was fired, b/c he didn't like the practices that the US JIC importer was following.

It's not worth the risk, and there are plenty of other suspension options out there.

One thing to add about the GC setup as compared to the Zeals (and possibly others) is that the Zeals have ride height adjustable indepentant of spring pre load. This in itself is a HUGE advantage. When I owned the GC setup any unweighting of the car would result in teh spring comming out of it's seat and a really lound bang as it re-seated itself. You can get different spring heights to change ride height, but that's more money if you aren't happy from the start. You can easily adjust on the other setups without replacing springs.

One your incidents sound near to what i've heard but from the other perspective and JIC has since cut ties with that shop.

As for myself, I have nothing but good experience dealing with JIC and their customer service. I've spoken to them plenty of times at sevenstock, d1gp etc and they were entirely on the ball and offered helpful advice.

The V6 is the most similar damper Zeal offers to JICs FLTA2. I don't have much experience with the Zeals but as I've pointed out in my previous posts, JIC has gone well beyond the norm in proving the FLTA2s dynamic performance capabilities.

ive been looking at many different coilovers for about a year now. Ive been debating between Apexi pro n1's (i can get them for about $1400 so to me its in my price range) Flta2's or Tein Flex's or RA's, ive been looking into silkroads. ive been wanting to get a good circuit and street setup but i do want the adjustability. 8 for the silkroads vs 15-16 for the other brands. are the silkroads more for street or circuit use? thanks -alex
