JDM TII Swap: 5th/Reverse switch rewire
Series 4 JDM 13BT engine. S4 JDM TII transmission - CAME WITH THE ENGINE.
I am using an N/A harness.
Now... the transmission's 5th/reverse switch faces rearwards. (someone told me the S5 5th/rev. switch is the same) The transmission is a S4 though... it came with the engine. Is this because it's a JDM engine?
Anyway, has anyone done this? How can I connect/rewire the wires to the 5th/rev. switch from the N/A harness? (I wish I had pictures)
Forgot to add one important thing - There are two prongs on the switch that is on the tranny, and I have to wire like three or four wires to these two prongs I guess. Just wondering what other did.

The JDM transmission reverse/over the top switch, has only two wires. The Japs don't use/have a over the top fifth switch. So in reality its just a Reverse switch.
Unlike the USA switch that has four wires. Two wires for the reverse and two wires for the fifth. Both sets of wires are colored. Two blue and two red if memory serves. Both red are for one function and both blue for the other function.
So the two wires that exist on that switch are for REVERSE.
Fifth or over the top is used in the USA for triggering the Split Air Solenoid on the ACV when fifth is engaged. This function has nothing to do with passing emissions at all if that is a worry for you.
IF it worries you, then buy a USA fifth/over the top/reverse switch with the four wires and have at it.
Since it has only two wires and MUST be for reverse, then those two wires go to the connector that has the BLACK/YELLOW wire in it. The black/yellow is 12v. When you make the switch it passes thru the switch and goes out the other wire to the reverse lights.

The ACV on a JSPEC engine has no Split Air Solenoid. It only has the Port Air Solenoid.
USA ACV do have a Split Air Solenoid on them and they are triggered anytime the cars in fifth gear. I don't KNOW, but I suspect the lack of it opening won't have detrimental effects on the catalytic converter or any other thing.
