IT is not hard to find hundreds of recommendations for him, both from people who have actually bought engines, and other people who have met him or seen his work.

Sure, there are little complaints here and there about stupid ****, but I havent found anything that was justified or proven. Also from what I have heard, he provides pictures of the engine you send to him, when it is torn down, and again when it is cleaned, ported, and built, and a written warranty that actually gets honored if there is a failure instead of written off as "customer abuse" like most companies. I even found a post somewhere recently where somebody mentioned that his own built FC made like 475rwhp on pump gas, something that very few people can claim. So it sounds like the dude knows what he is doing.

And as far as working at his home, I see nothing wrong with that...it is called low overhead. I have no interest in paying for someone's shop rent and operation expenses if I can get the same quality of work from their home garage, but if you feel better paying extra to support someone's big shop, then be my guest.

I was going to PM him to get his response personally, but the forum won't let me PM or email, or search his old posts, so something wierd is going on with that.
Each to their own. I'm not here to flame him out and he certainly knows HOW to work on a rotary engine. I used to live in the same city as him, met him, he's done work on an old engine of mine. I'm sure the engines he builds for himself are built with the cream of the crop of parts he finds.

Maybe I was spoiled, in college my best friends father owned a shop and he always took good care of me. The best shop I've ever taken my car to was in Dayton, OH...can't remember the name of it ATM, but it was owned by 2 master mechanics who at one time raced. They were an import specialty shop and at any time they had Porsche, Ferrari, and other big name cars..and still reasonably priced.

Kevin builds a solid engine... On a budget.. If it werent for people like him, a lot more cars would be in the junkyards getting stripped.

JUST A FEW FYI's to everyone.

1) It is always a gamble buying a used engine (as it is with buying a used car) granted some importers sell paperweights on purpose... But a used engine should be considered a ticking timebomb.

2) how many engines have all the major auto manufacturers had to replace? LOTS. That is what a warranty is for. Misatakes happen, it is how the company deals with the mistake that makes the difference. 9 out of 10 dentists agree folks.. You can't please everyone all the time.
