Jacobs Ignition

Dang...I've been looking around, but can't find a site with Jacobs Ignition system kits...that showed price and all that good stuff at least...can u guys please tell me where i can find? or if there is a different ignition system to go with? cuz i hear that getting a jacobs ignition system not only enhances performance, but also increases gas mileage which is something i'd really like...thanks

the jacops is a rip off. it's like $400. and is no better then MSD or crane hi 6. I would get a crane box. under $200.

Do any of these improve gas mileage? and does the car run way better? or is it better to just not buy one at all?

In my eyes I would say that it is a good investment. I know that the MSD 6 series will improve gas mileage, performance and overall idle speed, this is done by improving the sparking system.

I thought you could get one of the MSD's for like $150?

i got the jaccobs. you might feel the difference if youve got a lot of other mods, but gas does go up some, and at higher rpm you feel a difference in the way the car picks up, thats for sure. heres a pic of mine wired to the coil, 2nd pic down.

Our Blue Wire dilemma has been resolved too. The one coming off the Crane Cams Ignition Box. I tapped It Into the 12v Ign of the Leading Coil.

here's the thing. the jacobs is designed for a rotary so it runs through all the coils supplying bigger spark to all four spark plugs. the msd and crane and other non-rotary specific boxes just hook up to the leading coils and only affect the leading two spark plugs. you would however need 3 msd or similar cdi boxes to do the complete job of the jacobs. one would run the leading and you would need one for each trailing.

supposedly, just running a box on the leading coil is good enough. there don't seem to be any dyno results around or any actual proof, but the rotary gods that be seem to agree than unless you are running mondo serious horsepower its not even worth trying to run cdi to your trailing plugs. i think soulassassin had his wired to run his trailing plugs (using 3 msd boxes...i think it was him), but he was laying down like 600 hp. for a daily driver car you won't really see a difference at all from running an msd or crane box vs the jacobs, and its less than half the price.

it all comes down to the fact that it's not worth the money to get a jacobs for an daily driver rx7 when an msd/crane system will give you the same results on this type of car for less than half the price.

the jacobs is leading only.... however the "made for rotary" marketing scheme seemed to work on you and a few others in this thread...

just look at the pic posted half way up.. hmm 4 wires to leading coil. 2 left. red and black. I don't think those go the the trailing coils....
