J-Spec Swap: Engine Won't Crank, No Power To Anything
Hello everyone. I just recently purchased a Jspec TII s5, the motor is in the car now and wired up to the starter, i treid to crank the engine and no go. Also all the wiring from the headlights and sidemarkers are unpluged as well as the horns well everything pretty much because i painted the engine bay. So the only thing thats hooked up is the fusebox, starter to the main harness. Any ideas?
oh and the battery to :P

Thank you aaron for editing the title
Yeah the engine harness is hooked up to the body harness. I also bolted up all the grounds to the body as well, the only things that are not hooked up are the plugs for the lights, stock alarm to the hood latch, horns, coils . thats about everything that i can think of. I'll try to post some pictures later on tonight.

are your headslights and hazards working? try getting those to work first as it will rule out some things.
also do you have any idiot lights? any ignition? check the black wire on the positive terminal that makes it's way back to the ignition column. If this wife is not making contact with the clip then you will not get any ignition and hence you will not be able to turn on the radio or start the car...
hope this helps...

Sorry for not specifying the car in the first post. The car is a 1991 s5 N/A
And the car worked fine all lights worked and everything before i killed the motor.
I have none of the lights hooked up, I'll try to hook everything up and secure all the grounds and everything tonight I'll check everything. As of right now nothing is getting power i have the fuse box hooked up, the starter, the main ground to the side of the engine (one under oil filter) the one next to the trailing coil on the body harness. I also removed the emissions off the motor but i doubt that would have anything to do with this problem.

I had a similar problem with my J-Spec. It turned out that I didn't plug in a single wire harness, that goes to the Fuse Box in the Engine Compartment. It's a Black wire with a Red stripe (I think it connects to the small wire on the starter). Hope this helps...

LOL.. yes it would be funny but dont worry, I tried 2 batteries. First i charged mine on my moms car while running then i swapped them to see if it worked and no. And yes the lil black and red cable on the back of the starter is hooked up as well as everything on the fuse box.

Something got fried or isn't plugged in. If all you did is swap the engine, things like the interior lights etc would come on when opening the door if they were still recieving power like they were before you took the engine out.
Go back through all your steps, something has to have been over looked.
But - its an important question - do your headlights work?

you Are Going to get an Annoying Buzzing Sound UNTIL you get the Air out of the Cooling System,And That won't Happen until you have the car UP and Running to the Point where the Engine's Thermostat opens and the Coolant Circulates enough to get the air out.The Buzzer is the Low coolant Buzzer(I'll bet you a Coffee on that one)..and if you Want to rule it out, take the wire off the Sender and Ground it.(just for a Second,If the buzzer goes off,I am Right!)

Boost sensor plugged in/hooked up? AFM? CAS? Plugs fouled? Do the puffs from the engine sound strong? (good compression) You can always take out your lower plugs and add a small amount of oil to build compression while starting. I don't know... I am just thinking of things.
