J-Spec engine from Nismo

J-Spec engine from Nismo
Anyone had dealings with Nismo? I'm looking at getting a J-Spec from them and they say it is a direct swap and the engines are in good condition, under 30k miles.
Is this usually the case or is that the exception. I'd hate to get the motor in then find out it smokes like mad or I need to buy adapters to connect it to my wiring harness or gas pedal cable, or fuel line.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Is it NISMO or a company that's just using a name like them? If it's actually NISMO then they're the read deal and I wouldn't have any worries about buying from them. Otherwise do some research (like you're doing now), or take a chance.

Well, if you happen to have the latest HyperRev magazine/catalog for RX-7s (no. 72 or 74, I forgot which one exactly), flip to the area for accessories.
If you look at the rotary clock that is available, you will notice that the logo on the face of it says "Nismo".

There is the link.
I tried to get through yesterday but their phones were down so I e-mailed them my number and they called me. The guy said it was a straight drop in and everything on my car would plug/bolt right up. The engines came with turbo and intercooler and he said about 20% more HP than the American version. $1,300 is what they are asking for a TII engine. Plus about 175 shipping.

if these are the same guys from canada calling themselves Nismo i would highly avoid it. They sold my friend an engine with 2 blown pistons. and then they NEVER answered his calls. he was out 5k

What?! Someone using the Nismo name to sell engines?! sacrilege!
They're just another engine company. Incase anyone is curious, the real nismo is here: (hope you can read japanese...)
http://www.nismo.co.jp/
My understanding is that Nismo has a copyright on the name and no one is supposed to use it, BUT they don't have a US office or representation directly, so, I guess that's how they're getting away with it.

Of course the quick response from them would be that you didn't do something right...

Who Would you all recommend buying a used j-spec from. My motor is gone and just trying to get out of the deal as cheap as I can.
If I do not go with a j-spec i'm gonna go ahead and have Don Marvel rebuild my current one with new 3rd gen rotors machined for 3mm seals, Hurley race seals and springs, street port, machine the stationary gears for better oil flow, ect.. Would be a well built engine but about 4x the cost of a j-spec.

J-Specs are a gamble.
Ever bought a used part and it didn't work like new? The old saying is true, you get what you pay for. If money isn't a massive problem (IE you can't pay your bills) get a GOOD rebuild. You'll be happier in the end.
