ITW Foamseal Questions

Well, I am about to tackle the Foamseal frame strengthening project. I have read Icemark's thread. I am still looking for others that have done this same thing. If you have any input or suggestions to make this go more smoothly I would like to hear.

First off I will be doing the door sills, rocker panels whatever you call it. The next place will be that open frame rail that goes across the bottom of the car behind the seats and at the bottom of the storage bins.

I was wondering if you could spray something on the paint that might keep the foam from sticking in the event I screw up and get it where I don't want it? The idea would be like spraying diesel fuel on concrete forms so that the concrete won't stick so bad. Just an idea.

I will eventually look at doing the frame rails underneath but that will be down the road.

So basically looking to talk to people who have first hand experience with this product.

If you read Icemark's article you should probably "not" close your doors after injecting the sealant into the door sills and thus not have to worry about your doors getting stuck plus it will alow you to monitor the procedure better. When you stick the foam into the door sills do you know if the foam will be trapped within the sill. Meaning are the ends of the sills closed off at the end or open to the area beyond the sills such as the end of the sill near the kicker panel where on the driver side you have the cpu and fuse box. Just a thought and good luck.

I did a little check this morning and I think the front part of the door seal is basically closed. I will have to tape the back part up to enclose it.

I have had an ordeal trying to get this stuff ordered. I finally found a place. The old place that is referenced in the SCC Magazine article no longer sell the product. I did find someone in OK City that was very nice and easy to deal with. I will post their information here.

I will give an update when I get further into it.

I was wondering what kind of tape anyone has used that has done this. I was thinking maybe duct tape but was hoping to hear from someone that has been there and done this.

I believe Icemark used duct tape for I remember someone questioning its usage. I have not used this product yet ,but I think it would be wise to do one sill at a time meaning I would inject, let it expand and dry before doing the opposite side so if there are any unforseen problems they could then be addressed before repeating the same error.
