its getting better by the day

i have my car running at idle finally ,now i just want to know if you can help me diagnose this problem- it idles fine but when i hit the throttle sharply i hear a ping from the exhaust manifold, its only i ping at the begining of the rev but if i keep it accelerating its fine i dont know what can be causing it-could it be my engine(i hope not)-one more thing is that i have very low oil pressure(15-25 at idle and 35 at full throttle) WHAT CAN BE WRONG- i am scared to drive it with low oil pressure-
mytemp guage is not working either. HEPL !!!!!!!!!!!!

Change your oil, see if that helps the pressure, get Castrol GTX non-synthetic 20w50 or somehting that you prefer of the same weight.

Check under your oil filter, if things look oily then you may need to buy 2 new O-rings. This could be causeing your low oil pressure but I dought it. Is your car oil cooled?? I forgot if the NA's are or not, but look at your oil cooler and oil cooler braded lines. check for oil leaks. Are you burning oil?

As for the pinging I have no idea. is it loud? Does the engine hesitate? if yes then its maybe yout throttle possition sensor.

Do the atf treatment.

What year is your car? 86-88 use a mechanical oil pump which I hear is not a weakness of the car at all, but the 89-92 electric one seems to give more problems I guess.

Could also be a bad oil pressure sending unit in which case your car is prolly OK to drive.

when i got the car someone had put waaay tomuch oil in it(like a quart and a half too much) because when i originaly started the car oil came shooting out of the dip stick pipe so there is oil every where in the engine.-by the way i already did the atf treatment about two weeks ago and i just got it started about three days ago--i drove the car for about 5 min and the top radiator hose was very warm, is it suppose to warm up that fast(i live in arizona)-the top hose gets a lot warmer than the bottom one--as for the pinging , its not really loud but it is noticable, it sounds like metal is hitting metal inside or around the exhaust manifold- it doesnt really soundlike its coming from the engine--and yes my car has an oil cooler and it doesnt look like its leaking.

just noticed that my battery guage doesnt work either,DAMN!

I am running 20-50 Castrol in the 7, I swear by that brand. Ive used it in about everything I owned. My oil press. readings are 20-30psi at curb idle and 60-70psi at high revs. I know that on Chevy pickups, 10psi is accepted for curb idle. Dont know what it is for 7s but I imagine that 15-20 at idle after the motor is warm, is a fairly good reading.
