intrest in Carbon Fiber shift surround?

Anyone like us to make the CF shift surround as the next project? I did get some kick *** red and blue CF that the company sent me with my last order of 4x4 and this stuff looks kick ***. I need to find a place to use it on. But anyways I want to do the shift surround next in a full 4x4 3d twill weave as always with 6 coats of clear on top. I really liked the way the console panels came out with the extra 2 coats of clear on them. It gave them a deeper wet look and knocked down some of the shine. I will have to make a prototype first and then figure out how time and money it takes to make these and come up with a reasonable price so please don't post "how much" before we even know how long it takes to make 1. Also I plan to only make 10-15 of these and thats it. I don't really see the point in making more than that. I am not a store and don't plan on holding stuff on hand. As I have said in the past buy it when it comes out or miss out because we don't make stuff twice.

Anyways can anyone tell me if the surround is different from 86-91 and if so how are the different. I have a few at the house but I have not been able to tell by looking at them if they are really that different. And please only post if you know that s4's don't fit s5's and why. Please don't post a answer if you really don't know from personal experiance please. Thanks

no clips

you can use double sided tape

no boot holder pins.

You can make these yourself with a coat hanger and some epoxy.

The simpler I make this the cheaper it is. Less labor hours to make = cost less

do you have access to any kind of carbon fiber cloth type materials?
is there a way you could make say a shifter surround so it doesnt look shiny and "fiberglass like" for lack of better wording... basically a dull flat look?

you could get one and paint it flat black. It does have a sandable paintable surface.

anyone know if they have fittiment issues from s4 to s5?

There is a difference from S4 to S5. The differences are slight, I think the hole for the shifter area of the s4 was a bit to the left whereas the s5 is more centered.*edit*(It appears the the part that makes it seem this way is the boot holder peice. I think the surround itself is the same dimensions etc for s4 and s5.) The boot holder pins are different but that won't matter if you won't have them on your CF surround.

When I get home from work I will check on this as I have a s5 rx7 and a spare s4 surround.

?

thats not what i meant.. i mean instead of having carbon fiber that is shiny, is there a way you can make the carbon fiber dull looking and still show off the weaves.

yeah add more clear. Thats what I did to the console panels and it knocked the shine down alot. I guess I could drop about 10 coats on yours. We can discuss this more at one of the fuds meets.

cool I will have a prototype made up so everyone can make up their mind. Also after speaking to Kevin Landers he told me that the s4 and s5 both fit but its best to make the mold out of the s5 because it will fit both series cleaner. So thats it.

Also if you want a specific color please let me know in advance or you might not get it. I have red, blue on hand now that was sent to me on my last shipment. But I can get silver, orange, and green. Might be a few bucks more but not much because I will only order a few feet of it to do your piece.

Yeah actually I am doing the shift surround next and a guy has already ordered a blue CF/Kevlar 2x2 from me. Colors are special order only because I have to go out and buy the material and when you are buying it under 10 feet its over 40 bucks yard. So the colors must be arranged with me in advance and will cost a few bucks extra depending on the circumstances.

Not sure yet. I need to make one and keep track of the hours and materials used and come up with something.

Yes, and I'd be happy to build you a website with forms and the like for some of that CF goodness that you make.

not really into the whole order form thing. I hate websites that offer something and you order it then the screen pops up and says out of stock and it will be a 30 day wait. I would rather do buisness with someone personally, email or phone, and kinda find out what they are looking for and get feedback from them that way. Plus this is not much of a business. I make this stuff because I want it for my car and by making a few extra it pays for the materials and equipment over time. If I wanted to make money I wouldn't be making stuff for the second gen. I would be out with the honda/neon/wrx/evo crowd that buy this stuff for thousands of dollars. I am making this stuff in limited quanities to keep it unqiue. So make up your mind and get in when we offer stuff because I don't make things twice.
