Intrest in a Carbon Fiber control panel?

I thought about for the next project making the control panel that houses my vert headrest speaker controls, the gay security flashing button and the power window controls. Now I know these are not FC universal with the different cutouts but I think the plate size and shape is FC universal. Then you guys could cut out the required/desired switch controls. I know at one time someone did a few of these but the quaility of CF used was suspect. Let me know I might make just 10 in 4x4 3d twill unless a few more people want them.

yeah I was searching around and I found that their is like 3 different setups of these for the 86-91 NA-turbo-vert models which is going to be a bitch. No one wants one of these with holes cut into it and they don't have anything to put their. I would be willing to bet everyone could do without that ugly *** "security" button.

What do you guys think about just making it a flat plate and you can cut out what ever you want or need? Does anyone know for a fact if the square is universally the same size atleast? Give me some feed back.

"make a cf dash"

The full CF dash is a winter project. Its just dog *** hot out right now and the shop temps hit 120. I just bought a portable ac unit from home depot that works great. Should help with some of the temp issues.

I tried looking at mazda trix to see what the differences are between these panels. Knowing Mazda they were all the same except if you didn't have a switch where a cutout goes you got a plastic blank. And one have anymore info on these?

I looked through a bunch of show your interior posts and as fas as i can see one person had a different control panel than everyone else. One difference I see is that the verts have controls for the headrest speakers and the coupes have a change tray their but I am more than sure mazda made the panel cutout the same size to make it universal. I might pull out my measuring tape tonight and see. I was amazed when we made the window switch covers that the driver "dual" and passanger "single" were the same size panel just different cutouts on the factory plastic

same size in all, s4 or s5. Same cutouts for all, with the only difference being:

The spot closest to the shifter...
GXL = AAS control
Vert = Headrest Speaker Control
All others = coin tray

The Security light is replaced by a pop in piece if it is not optioned with the car. Doubt I would be interested, but I just wanted to share the info, since you should be able to get away with one mold. Only issue is that the coin holder is cemented on while the AAS and Headrest speaker control pop are removable/interchangable. Hope that helps.

Thanks Duncan for the info. I will make it with all the stock cutouts except the security one because that screams 80's interior and its gay as hell. And people that have the coin tray can cement or super glue the stocker on my CF panel. And yes I will just make one mold. I am not going to keep a Catolog of **** for the FC. I plan to make a limited quanity if items and once they are sold thats it.

No it won't clip in. Its easier and cheaper to make without clips. Plus they brake off everytime you try and remove the panel anyway. Few dabs of superglue or contact cement should do the trick. One of the main reasons we are making this next is because 2 of the 4 clips are broken on the stocker in my vert now. Most people's stuff I have seen have atleast 1 clip broken off. Ah well should turn out to be a nice upgrade to the outdated interior

I'd be interested in a CF hatch cover but I'm assuming it'd be cost prohibitive due to the size and geometry but since you're looking for suggestions...

The other thing would be a CF steering column ignition switch surround. I can't get the top OR bottom to last as the plastic screw holes always break and the bottom slim piece always cracks as well. I'd buy that from you immediately.

Am I the only person that remembers the power mirrors switch? Mine has 2 blanks close to the shifter (base model) and the power mirror control close to the armrest. My 87 gxl had the aas switch and security light then power mirrors switch.Another fc i took parts from had no power mirrors and a cointray instead. My base wiht power mirrors has no coin tray but instead coin slots in the armrest.
Just adding my info.

yeah just a update.

We are now going to make 30 of these one time only (as we do with all our stuff)

They will be 4x4 3d twill and they will be made with no cutouts. We messed with it this week and the stock "switch modules" sit in on a beveled edge and this makes it very tuff for this stuff to fit correctly so to hell with it. It will look a 100 times better as a flat piece. I plan on relocating my electric window module to the drivers side door and the other three slots are uneeded. I will post some proto type pics soon.

88 rag I have the same thing as you except I relocated my vert top switch to the black blank piece and changed it over to a toggle switch. I plan to change this again to a smaller switch because when chicks are coming over into my lap going down the highway at 90 they tend to brake the switch right off. (Happend twice already) I also will install the red, green, yellow arming lights for water/alcoh injection on this aswell. Plenty of stuff you can do with this space and ditch all that old BS.
