Question interest in real carbon fiber gauge faces

This would not be the surround but the face its self. would include led light's to replace the 192 bulbs so the numbers light up blue, red, or green. "at cost from corksport.com"

im just seeing if any one is interested. I don't have a prototype made up yet. the running lights will need to be on or a pin on one of the two harness will need to be spliced to make the numbers easy to read. I would supply all info needed to have the dash lights come on with the key.

S4 NA & TII will be first as its what i have. The tach can go to 8k, 9k, 10k, or 11k "I would need your tach and what rpm you want for the buzzer". what would the interest be for. also would you want to keep the up shift light?

EDIT: should have pics of a prototype in one or two weeks.

it just depends on what it will look like, i had some reverse indeglo ones and they looked ok but im going to swap back to the oem ones until something better comes out. the key is not only making them fit but also making them not look out of place, the white face gauges and what i have just dont go along with the rest of the interior. but got any pics, carbon fiber prolly would look pretty good.

I think red would probably look good in our cars, its close to the stock color but at the same time its not orange anymore I would definitley be interested if its not extremely expensive.

each person will get to pick red, blue, or green back lighting. I'll order a set of each and post what each looks like. it's not going to be an overlay but a new face laser cut so it should be an A+ fit.

I'll be ordering the fabric soon, so I'll need to know what there is the most interest in. I will order two and post pic's of each.
to see samples click this

I have the samples of them all and the 3k 2x2 is what most think of as CF. I also like the 3k 4x4.

the next set is CK
click this for the red, blue and yellow. I must say i like the blue.

and last. "this stuff is cool, but i don'ts think it would fit in."
aluminized fiberglass
click this

tell me what you think. I plan on ordering monday. and remember the cost of the fabric will change the cost of the face's.

and have a good holiday weekend

Depends on how much $$... I;d be interested if it was affordable. And deffinetly blue...to match the paint : ) I'd even be interested in just OEM looking faces (black) but with blue lighting.

Wait a sec... then why bother buying a new gauge face? maybe i should get some sleep...

The blue looks nice - have you seen the gauge faces on the new Volvos, S80 and S60 (high trim)?

A kind of iridescent blue. I imagine that blue kevlar might look similar.

Does anyone know how hard it would be to change the face and recalibrate the tach on an S4 as opposed to swapping in S5 gauges?

12 O'clock redline?

there are two var. resistors on the tach one is for the buzzer "smaller one" the other is to calibrate it "bigger white one". the easiest way to set the tach to a new face is to set the throttle stops so your car idles at a steady 1k and with the tach removed put a jumper from the batt+. to the long left brass strip, batt. - to the right most upper tab and the round connecter at the coil to the right most lower strip. start the car and when it returns to normal idle adjust it till it reads 1k. done. and its not a bad idea to mark the starting point.

good news bad news. looks like solid CF gauges will cost $500US to cut so now im seeing what a single layer on fiber glass or using a thicker peace of lexan and using a single layer of CF. part of the cost is that i was going to use little piece of CF for the center of the 0 and 8's if you don't mind this being something other than CF, its so small you probably could not even tell. I may be able to lower the cost more.

he also said that fiber glass would be $45 a set If i can find a way to lower the cost of the CF They should be the same price if not a little cheaper than the indaglo's.

I have the two types of carbon fiber sitting in my room and all 3 colors of the LED 195 bulbs. for now I'm just trying to find a good way to cut them.
