Interchangeability betweend S4 NA and S4 TII Suspension parts

Hi guys!

I'm building a drift car out of my s4 TII 1987...

I have a complete suspension package from a s4 NA laying around...

I know that the Brakes, Differential, Driveshafts are different...

I wanted to know if...

*the TII Brakes bolton onto NA axles
*the subframes are the same
*the semi-trailing arms are the same
*the front control arm is the same
*the wheel hubs are the same
and so on...

I need to know that because if YES i can send the parts to sandblasting and powdercoating without gettint the TII axles out of the car now

Thanks in advance!

The brakes would attach to the spindle assemblies.
If you have the Front Spindles for 4 piston calipers then you are Set.(TII setup).
SHOCKS: yes you can use the shocks.
You can use either the 4 lug wheel hubs or the 5 Lug.BUT you will run into brake issues.
make sure that the Spindle assembly will hold the brakes you are going to use.
You Want the 5Lug VENTED rotors with the 4 piston Calipers FRONT.
Rear is the 5 lug VENTED rotor (single piston caliper is all they ever offered)
On the Rear end,you can use the 4 or 5 lug wheel hubs,The axles from a TII or an N/A will slip right into the Splined part of the Bearing.(N/a or TII axles will fit the same bearing BUT you would then have to make sure that the Differential is compatible with the axles).
............
Just make sure that your parts are going to Coincide with each other,as you can't use a 4 bolt wheel assembly and expect the 5 lug Rotors to fit..Get me???

*the subframes are the same - yes
*the semi-trailing arms are the same - yes
*the front control arm is the same - yes
*the wheel hubs are the same - yes , 5 lug is 5 lug, 4 lug is 4 lug

thanks for your answers guys!

I've just checked out my spare parts which are laying around since 5 years at my parents house

the parts are all from a 5lug car *happy*

BUT i don't know for 100% if they are from a s4 TII or s4 NA... i got those parts when i was buying my s4 TII 5 years ago... it was a huge part-package (1 full trailer... hood, doors, interior etc. etc.)... the engine parts where from an s4 NA, the hood also...

are the 5lug NA brakes the same as the 5lug TII brakes?
are the 5lug NA driveshafts the same as the 5lug TII driveshafts? (I don't think so)
is the 5lug NA powersteering rack the same as the 5lug TII powersteering rack?

thanks in advance for your help!

yes
no
yes (it will bolt up, but the ratio might be different).

keep in mind, the na cars are almost exactly like the t2 cars. the beefier parts will bolt up just fine, but most likely you will need the corresponding parts. most likely it will bolt up fine if it is anything. speaking chassis wise.

major differences from na > t2 is that the drive shafts (from transmission to diff) are different lengths (due to the transmissions being different lengths), the differentials are different and the axles are beefier in the t2. I don't know about the rear axles other then that they need to match the diff as one stub shaft is longer then the other and different from the na setup(i.e. the t2 axles need a t2 diff), hubs and spindles I have no clue about concerning the wheel axles, 4 piston calipers na/t2 should be interchangable as I believe that those were only on 5 lug na cars, rear brakes are all the same. I know that both are s4 cars but for future reference (if buying used parts), s4 and s5 cars have different front control arms. I believe the s4's have replacable ball joints and the s5s are not.

according to this thread, t2 half shafts vary 1/2" from NA half shafts so they are not interchangable with the wrong diff. spline pattern/measurement seems to be the same so t2 rear hubs should work with na axles as long as you are using the na diff, which then means you need to use the drive shaft, which leads to you needing to use the na tranny unless you are going to have a custom drive shaft made or get the mazdatrix shaft (usually for na>t2 rear conversion but I don't see why it wouldn't work the other way around).

you said you are using it as a drift car and I don't know exactly what you want to swap over but if you have the t2 engine then you will want to use t2 tranny/driveshaft/diff/stubs and half shafts. NA **** is weak and may break eventually even on stock t2 power. its been documented and since you're drifting..well, it'll happen sooner or later. so, hope you're using just the brakes and hubs and things hope I helped I little.
