Intake Gasket Lube

When re-assembling the intake, what do you use to lube the new gaskets. Do you go dry or use regular motor oil, white lithium grease, anti-sieze grease, wheel bearing grease? Is a gasket sealant required? I read some people use dish soap, armour-all and even Windex.

No, but wouldn't hurt.

I just spread on a bit of RTV on both sides of the gasket.

+1 to RTV. Just a thin coat on both sides. Never had a leak with it.

I use sealent on most gaskets except for the LIM to UIM gasket. I apply a little bit motor oil on this gasket so its easier to pull apart later for repairs and/or mods. The UIM pops right off leaving the gasket perfect and ready for reassembly. No it doesnt leak.

John, I use this on one side of the gasket, and put the other side on dry, it's a real bitch to get RTV off if you ever have to pull it apart again.

Huh? I've never had a problem getting the RTV off my intakes. Usually I can just rub it off with my hand, or if it's that bad I have a small plastic scraper I use. You should only be using a skim coat.

if it's smeared on the gasket on both sides I find it rips, and it's a bitch to get off, maybe it's just me, but I only use RTV on Metal to Metal surfaces.

Oh I see. Well usually mine stick on one side or the other, then I just run a scraper under it.

Hey Kevin, I don't have that stuff but I do have some of this...
http://www.permatex.com/products/Aut..._2_Sealant.htm
I figure it will do for now. But the next time I see the spray at the store, I'll buy it.

I want a good seal, but someday I may have to take it apart again and I want to be able to clean it off easily. We'll see...
