Installing a motor mounts attached or no?

I am about to install a turbo motor in an 87 GXL. I have swapped N/A motors in these cars before (long time ago!!!). I don't remember if you can have the motor mounts (round parts) attached to the engine when you put it in. Do you have to unbolt the aluminum part from the block and then bolt it back together when it is in?

Also, I have seen some posts of people installing turbo motors that have the turbo off of the manifold. Is this necessary?

Thanks!

you can drop it in with the mounts on. it might be easier to just drop the shortblock and tranny in at the same time and put the rest on later (intakes/turbo/etc).

Have the mounts on the engine, and use tape to hold the bottom plate (the one that is removable) in. On one side of the frame, there are a couple of holes for the mount, on the other side, is an "L" slot. Put the engine on the side with the holes in first.
