Installing a bigger turbo

Hey guys just doing a little research, going to be installing a to4z into my fc. The thing is I wanna do most of the installation myself, with a guy from works help. He can weld pretty much anything and has built a very nice little plane by himself so im sure he is up to it. Im buying the kit from the joint that built my engine contains turbo, manifold, wastegate, fuel pump, surge tank, injectors and fuel reg. I also have some billet fuel rails sitting in my room waiting to do this. Are there any problems that you guys think im gonna run into? Im planning on installing it all then just pushing it to my mechanics thats just round the corner (ive done it a couple times before lol) so yeah never installed a turbo so any advice would be nice

Have plenty of wd-40 or Pb blaster on hand to free up stubborn exhaust bolts/nuts. You got all your gaskets in that kit too?

before you buy anything, spend a while looking in the single turbo forum and read up. I am just finishing a setup very similar to what you are planning except I have the journal bearing version of the T04Z (T04R).

Why don't you list exactly what is contained in this kit? What wastegate? Who makes the manifold? What does the fuel sysem exactly consist of? You know you don't need aftermarket rails right? You can get drop-in injectors.

here is my setup:

-- rebuilt engine with big streetport with s5 irons and s5 manifolds, built by me

-- s4 TB and wiring, Power FC engine management (self-tuned)

-- Garrett T04R (non ball-bearing T04Z) with 1.00 divided hotside

-- FD long runner turbo manifold, fits fine (I think it was made by Feed, got it used)

-- Tial 44mm wastegate, recirculated into custom downpipe

-- RacingBeat 3" catback

-- Greddy 3 row FMIC (modified) with Greddy Type S BOV

-- 720 primary, 1680 secondary injectors with KG secondary rail. I wish I had just used the stock s4 rail though as there are stupid fitment issues with the KG rail.

-- Adjustable Aeromotive FPR @ 40psi base

-- for boost control I am going to try and use the Power FC despite all the advice to the contrary

-- Innovate LC1 wideband, dual loggable (FJO 0-5V signal converter) EGT probes

Ok well I brought the kit off dyson rotarys. (www.dysonrotary.com.au) since they rebuilt my engine and its been great as you can see in my sig it's been extend ported, dowled, 2mm "unbreakable" seals (now im pretty sure they are breakable but thats what the company thats making them claims. I got 2 new rotors and 1 new housing as well.

The kit contains: Turbo (to4z) manifold, external wastegate, 1700cc secondarys, 500hp in tank fuel pump, fuel regulator. I know I don't need the rails, but i got them cheap and they are just sitting in my room so I'm gonna install em.

Now I can't weld, but I'm an aircraft sheetmetal worker, and one of my work mates is an aircraft welder. So I'm going to fab up the dump and intercooler piping and he is gonna weld them all up. Rang the guys up today and they are throwing in the turbo flange so that makes life a little easier. However I'm unsure if it includes the oil and water lines for the turbo, this is the only area turbo wise that I think is going to cause me any trouble, but i cant see it being too hard to find one. As for the gaskets I'm sure i can get some off one of the exhaust shops around town. Oh and the wastegate just bolts straight onto the manifold.

When it comes to the fuel system is something that I havent played with before. Gonna study this a bit before i start playing with it but I cant see it being too hard. To install an in tank fuel pump on fc's do you have to drop the tank or is there an access panel? I can't see installing the injectors being too hard but I'm going to have to make up some fuel lines for the rails as they have AN fittings on the end and not the ordinary clamps. The fuel reg is something completely new to me, if the instructions aren't straight foward enough I'll probably pay for this to be installed.

I'm also waiting on my boost controller to arrive that shouldnt be to hard to install, I put up a WTB ash tray on the aus rotor forums and ended up paying 170 (keep in mind thats AU dollars) for the ash tray, red leather illuminated rx8 gear **** and a gizzmo IBC boost controller so i figured that was a score, originally was going to save up and run an Eboost2, but for the price of this thing, i can give it a go.

Hey dude if your going stainless manifold ive been told to do some reinforcing to it as they tend to get soft and crack when they get really hot even the expensive Japanese ones do, plus the turbo's dont help with their heavy weight, im also doing a big turbo upgrade as my old one killed it self, but was advised it was a good thing to do when talking to my engine builder today as he had it happen to him, here's a pic of what i mean.
