are you asking from a " I just installed, did I do it right?" standpoint? If so, As long as the cavity faced down, and the dowel was aligned with the actuator "U shape" rod when re-installed, there should be no issue.
Correct me if I am wrong, people with more experience. I just had my stock ones out to clean them as they would not move and were caked with carbon.

You should have been able to see just enough through the gap as you mate the LIM to the engine.
If the intake is on already, you can remove the actuators (two big cylinders that push and pull and rotate the rods) and turn the rods and go by feel, but the way above is the best.
If you're talking about the auxiliary valve in the housing and its orientation, the only way to check is to take them out again.
