Injector Gromets bad = vacuum leak?

I was curious if the bottom injector gromet (the insulating rubber piece inside the LIM) was loose and easy to slide up and down in its hole if that can cause a vacuum leak or fuel leak.. To me it seems like this would be a concern for an engine fire. But I got new ones in today and they are still just as loose. One side is really snug, cant go up and down at all and grips the injectors pretty good... I would like the other one to be like this as well.

Is there a quick fix one could do to make it work? Like High temp gasket maker on the outside of the gromet to thicken it up a little?

Thanks

That gromet should not be sliding up and down like that while in the injector "hole." Under the gromet there should be a little plastic diffuser. The gromet sits on that diffuser and then everything should be nice and snug. Are you missing that diffuser?

On the primaries I see a pink looking plastic Diffuser, but on the secondaries it seems like its bored down to a certain point and then there is just a metal lip that holds the gromet from slipping into the intake. I am pretty sure I am not missing anything from when I took it apart, maybe the previous owner might have done something if it is supposed to have one. But from the looks of it, it looks good just the gromet I am using seems to be too small.

How about this, when the secondary fuel rail is mounted, should you be able to move the injector up and down? or should it be sandwiched pretty tight? (The right one is tight but if I apply enough force I can move it up and down because the gromet has more room to go down.. But the left one I can easily move it up and down. I think I am going to try to fab something up anyway, cause this just doesnt seem too safe :P)

This is the spacer you need under your primaries.

They shouldn't move at all.

Yeah I know the primaries have a spacer. And The primaries aren't my concern. Its the secondaries. They can move up and down with some force, I dont think it would do it on its own but that is kinda disturbing. Would think they would design it to be extremely tight fit.

If you can look down the bore on the LIM and see the metal lip, then you are missing the plastic diffusers. The diffusers take up about 60% of that bore, and then the gromet takes up the remaining 40% of the bore. So...with the diffuser and the gromet in the bore together, the top of the dromet sits flush with the top of the bore.

The injector should fit relatively snug. You shouls be able to turn it side to side, but you should NOT be able to move it up and down.
