Injector clips, hose connections, and another mystery part
Hi guys, I started taking the car apart to prepare to replace my pulsation damper and a few problems presented themselves. For one, two injector clips are broken, and I was wondering how you go about replacing them. Also, the oil injector hoses were shot, I have new hose but I don't know how to connect the new ones. Lastly, on my intake manifold, what is this green filter-type thing? Once again, thanks in advance...

those are replacement connectors (EV1). Since you have an 88, your injectors have an offset tab on them on the bottom (just like the s4 BAC valve). you'll have to file that tab off because you can't buy offset tab injector connectors.
the green thing you are talking about is a check valve. It's used for the double throttle diaphragm, which is a way of limiting engine airflow when water temps are cold.

It's pretty simple:
-Strip back harness wrap
-Cut wires to old connectors
-Solder on new ones (don't forget to heat-shrink the connection)
-Re-wrap the wiring
Also, here's a thread about replacing the OMP oil lines: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-archive-72/rebuilding-omp-oil-injection-lines-348068/

I would not Trust a broken connector or a connector that has the Clip missing or any plastic for that matter.
If a proper connection is not maintained on the Injector, it will not Give the Engine Fuel.
I know,I chased down a "bobble' in my engine to a Loose clip.It looked fine, but it just kept on losing contact.
We are talking about 7 dollars per clip here, and not the Cost of a rebuild, which is what you are going to be looking at once the Engine goes Dead lean and burns up because if a Faulty injector clip.
www.injector-rehab.com or www.kgparts.com They have clips, and the Guy(keith) ships fast.

IMPORTANT!!
The two wires to the injectors have a polarity. It matters which wire goes where. Search for this subject with my screen name and you'll see the discussion and instruction. Overview, hold the new plug next to the old plug to get wiring location orientation, THEN solder and shrink tube.
And, as already pointed out, you CAN get connectors with the offset slot. I got mine from RC Engineering in Torrance, CA. I'd suggest, since you have things apart anyway, to pull all four of your injectors, ship them to RC for backflushing and tuning, and purchase the clips from them having them ship with the tuned injectors.

That green double throttle check valve, is broken, since no one else pointed that out, just want to make sure you knew, you can use a walmart fish tank oneway valve

Yeah...I asked what it was in the first post. I think I would notice something broken and dangling and a hose going nowhere...
I'm just wondering if it's worth replacing the clips TWICE if I plan on upgrading injectors later? Especially since the clip holds on solidly.

one thing that is a little off topic, but still helpful. you can remove your sub-zero assist system. it never really worked properly, and unless you live somewhere really cold it's pretty much dead weight. there is also a small reservoir bottle on the passenger side of the fire wall that is part of this system.

If that was a check valve, that would mean if vaccum was pulled on that line to the double throttle diaphram (sp), then the secondary plates would close like they are supposed to..............but when the water warmed up and no more vacuum was outputted by the water termo unit.........then the secondary plates would NOT open..................'cause there'd still be a vacuum on the diaphram. Make sense? Course it does. IT should be a DELAY valve which is NOT a checkvalve.
That's what I think about that.
