Info/how to on rebuliding stock turbo please!

Hi!
Ok... I need to rebuild my turbo, it's completely shot, smoking oil like crazy I HOPE it's the tubo! hehe, engine only has 400km's on it now, all fresh seals! , but I'm inclined to beleive that it is because the turbo has a good 2mm of in/out shaft play, and the wheel can touch the housing if I push it over.

Anyways, anyone know of a good place in Canada to get the garret t04 rebuild kit?
I've never done this before, but I'm assuming the rebuild includes everything I'd need to fix the oil leak?

How do you actually do it? I've searched, but never found a writeup or anything. If anyone has any info, i(Or a rebuild kit to sell!) t would be greatly apprecieated.
Thanks!

even if you rebuild it yourself you'll still need to get it rebalanced.. Your best bet, if you have nothing close to you in terms of good turbo rebuilders is to take it to a truck service center and have them either service it or have it sent out via them..

At the risk of looking even stupider than normal isn't the stock turbo a Hitatchi? Why do you want the TO4 rebuild kit? that is not stock as far as I am concerned.

I've been told that if you mark the bolt, wheel and shaft in relation to each other, and re-assemble in the same way, balancing won't be affected.

Balanced wont be affected as MUCH that way, but when something is spinng at over 100,000 rpm even a slight imbalance will destroy the bearing's in no time at all...

And if I were You i'd stop using that turbo imediatly if the wheel can touch the housing, bad things can happen when the play gets that bad, like shafts bending and wheels disintegrating into a million pieces.

I know, I just need to know where to get the rebuild kit!
And about it being a hitachi, yes- I thikn it's an HT-18, but has the exact same cartridge as the Garrett to4 series, which is MUCH more available, and not imported, thereoifre, MUCH cheaper! I dont' even know where you could get the hitachi one.

Yeah just thought i'd better tell you because my old turbo had about that much play then *bam* (no pun intended.. ) the **** really hit the fan and the shaft bent and pieces of compressor wheel got lodged in my intercooler...
luckily I shut down the engine because of the shocking noise the turbo made before anything went in it..
