Infini IV (Savanna RX-7 XXINF) owners
I am helping out some video game developers who need some info and perhaps even modeling information. If you have a Infini IV please PM me or reply in this thread.

Only canadians that have one are ones that have imported 'em from japan - we never had that model here new... But now there's all kinds of jap imports running around so you might get lucky.
What information are you looking for specifically? just pictures or what?

For example did the front bumper come embossed with MAZDA like the other S5 models.

Stripped of all Savanna and RX-7 identification, this was the last limited edition ultra high performance version of the 2nd-generation RX-7. A factory hot rod, the Infini IV was lightened (to 2770 lb.), by stripping out the extras, reducing the noise dampening material and using lighter parts including lightweight, perforated suede like material racing style seats. With a revised suspension (shocks 25% stiffer, springs 10% stiffer and lowered 1") Special Pirelli designed P-Zero tires, ultra lightweight 16 inch BBS wheels and a bright red front strut brace, the handling improved to a skidpad of .91 Gs. The Infini IV (as with most 91 models) also came with the tighter steering rack from the 89-90 North American GTUs model. Molded knee Pads at the driver's door side and center console were added to help brace the driver's legs while cornering, while a "dead pedal" bar ran the length of the passengers floor. An emergency flare and holder were also mounted just under the glove box.
Similar again to the US spec 1989 and 1990 GTUs the Infini IV came with the 4.3 rear end final gear (but also used a new Torsen Limited Slip Differential), minimal extras, but no air conditioning, or even a CD/Cassette (however it did come with power windows and used the light weight power window motors from the convertibles). Power was bumped to 215 HP (JIS), largely by changing the exhaust to a free flowing design and revised ECU. 0-60 performance was 6.5 and the quarter mile time dropped to 14.9, with Infini specific brake pads helping make an impressively matching braking force of 60-0 in 141 ft (8 feet less than the standard RX-7 Turbo). The Infini IV was only available in a custom black/green metallic paint. Unfortunately, the Infini IV was not imported to North America other than a single press version that was returned back to Japan after the press tour. Mazda limited production to only 600 Infini IV models.

Icemark - I've got an '89 infini III. Sure, it's not an infini IV, but there was almost no changes made between them. There are some things that are not true about your description. Perhaps due to poor translations in the past. I've been reading the same rehashed description for years now. If I'm not mistaken, it came from one English source. I know it's in the John Matras book he did on the RX7.
I know for a fact they DO have sound deadener in them. It's just thinner than the normal stuff. Maybe about half as this. I'm in the process of chipping it out centimeter by centimeter and of the three times I've done this, this car is the biggest PITA. So far I have at least 30# of it out and still there's more to go. The carpeting isn't the plush stuff either. It's the lightweight hollow fiber looped or whatever type that was also used in the Miata. Under the carpeting is some of the horsehair-like padding, but it's a lot less than what my old FC had. That thing had layers of it. The infini also came with the horsehair and rubber mat that's under the carpeting in the rear of the car. I was surprised to see it still there when I got it.
The seats are quite a bit lighter than the leather units, but for fixed bucket seats they're pretty heavy. The only adjustment is fore and aft. However VERY comfy and VERY good at holding me in place. The same suede that covers the seats is also used in the door panels. Very nicely done. The emergency flare and holder are standard issue in EVERY passenger vehicle in Japan. Can't pass shaken inspection without one in place.
2770# being light? Mine was listed as 1220kg from the factory. That's about 2690#. 2770# was about the stock weight for any other kouki FC from the factory. The performance numbers never looked right to me. A substanstially lighter car with more power and taller gearing not being quicker to 60? That's odd. As far as the brake pads go....I dunno. Mine weren't OE issue from '89 by the time I bought it.
No ABS was in there so that's a plus. No airbag or mousetrack belts either. No sunroof to speak of. Lighterweight power window motors? Not likely. I had to replace my driverside unit with one from a GTX. Felt the same to me. The black/green was used for the IV. Also used for the "Winning Edition" that commemorated the win at LeMans. Mine got Brilliant Black being an older model. The black/green is a very sharp looking color in person.
They did come with A/C, but was an option. Same deal for the radio. One thing they didn't mention is that they were only available as 2 seaters. Most other FC's here came with that joke of a back seat. The BBS wheels were 16x6.5 IIRC and look like a pain to clean. I've passed up several sets for sale because they don't really do it for me. In Japan, if you go to a car parts store they are very adamant about you showing them the title. Must be so they get the right parts ordered. But they come up in the system as a Savanna. Not infini or RX-7 or whatever. Just a Savanna.
I have some books at home that go into much more detail with the infini models. But I'm burning up company time now so I can't reference them.

btw, gt5 or "vision Gran Turismo" is set to release this march with the release of ps3. I know for a fact that even if they wanted to redo a car for vision, they're sure as hell done with it now, considering it's released in like, 2 months. Just my 2.5 cents.

this is off topic....but the ps3 is not comin out in march....itll be out close to the end of the year....and i dont think its GT5 because they had an infini IV in GT4....but i am curious as to what game it is....
