Increasing Master Cylinder Diameter.

I'm looking at redoing my entire braking system.

Right now, I have a 90 GX with single pot calipers. The master cylinder needs replacement (leaks) and one caliper is also leaking (needing a rebuild).

The plan is to swap to 4 Pot, stainless steel lines and new Hawk pads (currently PBS)...(possibly new slotted or crossdrilled disks, can anyone recommend any reasonably priced brands?)

The question is. I saw that FC owners equiped with ABS could up the size of the diameter of their master cylinder (using the MC out of another mazda). Apparently this gives the pedal a better feel.

Is there a similar swap option for FC owners who do not have ABS installed? Is it worth it?

Thanks in advance.

you're keeping the rear sliding calipers single piston, correct? only swapping fronts to fixed caliper 4-piston?

Talk to me about this... there's a lot of options, though some take more work than others (such as bending up some custom brake lines).

i'm curious about options as i believe my brake booster is going out. not sure what all i'm going to need to fix or choose to replace. i have a small oily leak in the interior of my car near my right foot on the hump where the tranny is (but the interior).

proportioning? how so. it changes brake pressure and i believe pedal travel, but proportioning?? i was looking for my book about brakes earlier, but didnt find it. may be in the garage. it tells what happens when you change bore diameter in the master cylinder.

There was a very good thread on zilvia concerning proportioning. I'll dig it up if I can remember.

The five lug FCs that came with four piston calipers had both a larger brake booster and master cylinder. Some people have reported failure of the single piston brake booster with 4 iston brakes while other have been fine. When i did my conversion i swapped to five lug and just bolted on the hubs from a five lug car, and the whole rear subframe and just swapped out the brake boosters. I got my pads and rotors off ebay for like 220 shipped for everything and they are great. So basicaly i'd say go with ebay rotors and pads, and use the 5-lug FC brake booster.
