I agree that the RB header-silencer-muffler setup is the best.

But - I only had $300 at the time.

So, for a cheap-*** rig, mine sounded pretty good.
This sound clip was made almost a year after the bombs were put on.

It did help me almost keep up with the turbo's, and it helped sell the car when I got a turbo.

Now in that clip is it the glasspacks that sound like a chainsaw? I'm not sure what we should be listening for.

Pretty much any exhaust will sound like a chainsaw with full headers & a fully open exhaust. You have to have some mid silencer or catalytic converter to get the proper tone. Then you need to keep the collector & partial headers on a NA model with smaller mufflers or full headers & better/larger muffling muffelers (Racing Beat) to keep the volume under control.

(insert muffler smuggeler joke here)

I have both HKS and GlassPack mufflers of my 2nd gens and both sound good because 1) I haven't touched the collector (NA), turbo manifold (TII) and 2) I have catalytic converters on all my cars.
