im just full of questions today
ok i installed a cone filter to my intake and i took off all the intake stuff.
heres my question i see rx-7s on the internet with the oval tube (that was connected to the filter box) thats on top of the fan shroud does that do any thing i cant see where air would get in there? but i see people still using them after puting on a cone filter

They're too cheap to buy a cold air box & fresh air headlight scoop.
They just keep the OEM intake to force air in.
If you get the cold air box & freshair headlight scoop from mariahmotorsports.com you won't need it.
You can use the fan shrowd top for stickers, painting, ignition system amp, etc.. (ie boost inside, 2 triangle power, boosted triangles, etc..)

does it force air in i took it off when i got my filter but it back on yesterday i dont want to cut holes in my hood for fresh air
and i dont really see the use of a headlight scoop only time it works(seems to me)is during the day not at night.

I don't see how being too cheap to buy a CAB has anything to do with the intake duct. It puts air where it's suppose to. You don't really need it if you don't want it because the air will come from the rest of the surrounding area. But if you don't have a CAB then virtually all the air sucked in will be hot engine air.
It's not like the duct is the only way for air to get in the cone. It was for the stock box cause it was all closed off. Which is why you get a cone in the first place.

Without the stock box actually sucking through the OEM ducting, I doubt it will do anything. Granted, it may move a small amount of cool air but there is no force shoving it through that tiny duct. The radiator deflector plates (whether stock or custom) take all the moving air and direct it to (go figure) the radiator. I had mine on for awhile but realized that it just looks bad. Besides, who wants an extra .68 pounds under the hood?

You are not getting outside air to the pod filter of an FC without cutting metal. Those silly headlight covers will only ventilate the headlight, nothing else.
You need to cut a hole and duct outside air via flexible tubing from the radiator grille. An alternative is to relocate the washer bottle and cut a hole under the filter. Fabricate a heat shield from aluminium or fibreglass, or buy Mariah's one (cold air box my ***...)

Disagree on the headlight cover. Mariahs cold air box & stamped OEM headlight cover does supply outside air into the performance intake. Yes you might need to widen the channel behind the headligth for better flow into the box.
Of course you can always get mariahs front nose that has an intake all the way across the nose
