![Question](https://www.rx7club.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I installed a used engine in my '88 RX-7. I got everything installed and ted the engine. The car runs fine until it warms up. WHenever the engine warms up, it dies. I can restart it and it will die as soon as I take my foot off the gas. All of the vacuum lines are hooked up. I do not know what the problem is. Please help.

Set the idle per the fsm. Also the timing. Might have to play with the rich/lean, possibly, but probably just basic idle setting per fsm. Just guessing, but when you start from cold the mixture is just a little richer because the ECU measures water temp, plus the fast idle cam, thermo wax etc cracks the throttle open just a bit more when cold. So when the thing warms up, the fast idle cam and pin seperate closing the throttle plates down from what they were when the engine was cold, and that results in the car dying because the idle was never set right at the beginning. Also the bac could possibly have its plug off or be inoperative. Ah shucks, it could be just a bunch of stuff, so start with setting the idle per fsm and also look for air leaks while your not doing anything. The only thing that is certain on the face of this earth, is if I smack my starter three times, the car will start and not fail for over a month. Its written in the stars somewhere.
