Idle problem
Well this is for a friend who has a 1987 fc3s, we have been working on his car from day one since he bought it about 2 1/2 months ago. Anyway last night he was driving had to come to a stop to pull out on to a main road and kinda cut another car off on "accident" so he punched it let it rev to like 5k shift (1st) punches it again lets it rev to 5k(2nd) and does the same in 3rd then just goes with traffic. NOTE I WAS NOT IN THE CAR AT THE TIME! So then he is just driving normal and he said he went to hit the gas and it was like the gas was gone. So he pulls over to the side of the road and calls me I tell him to check his throttle cable maybe it came off or was hung up on something, he check it and it was fine. I tell him to gemp it to my house he was about 2 miles from my house. So when he gets to my house I open the hood and start look around for anything obvious see nothing out of the norm. I get in the car and turn on acces checking what gages work in the car volt and temp..lol. and see nothin abnormal so I start the car and it revs to 1200 rpm drops to 800rpm sputter sputter I give a bit of gas just to bring the revs to 1100rpm and I ease off and she dies. so I let it cool down for about 25min start it again and it runs perfect for about 3 min then dies. at this point he get mad a decides he wants to go home I didnt argue just let him go and cool so we could fix it today with a clear head. I am lost I am thinking TPS, bad primary injectors, He just put in a new fuel filter air filter. Anyone have any idea of what the problem could be or where to start looking?
Sorry for the long post just trying to give as much info as possible!
Thanks

I'm thinking TPS. The BAC may be a factor also but it seems unlikely given the circumstances under which the issue started. Probably more likely is a loose hose somewhere. Check the hose on the intake tube and vacuum hoses around the manifold. Generally vacuum hoses will cause an irradic idle but shut offs are generally caused by a more serious leak. It also sounds like you're saying the car runs fine while its cold and the ecu is in closed loop but once it warms up and the ecu goes into open loop it shuts off. Am I understanding you right?

Yes that is correct that is what it did last night, I am going to check all the vac lines tonight after work. Like I said in my first post I was not in the car with him so I dont know how he was behaving for all I know he could have been beating the F00K out of it. I hope it is a quick fix so we can get the car out of my yard.
