Idle Climbs. Help!

Idle Climbs. Help!
I have an 87 gxl. I just put on an S5 intake and removed all emissions. The cars starts up fine and idles cold at about 2,000 rpms which is normal for my car. But when i rev the engine, the engine stays where it was reved to and then continues to climb on its own.
For example, idling at 2,000, rev it to 3,500, stays at 3,500 and then climbs slowly until i shut it down.
Please any suggestions and info would be wonderful.
Thanks
Ryan

2000rpm is not a normal idle for any rx7 dude you prolly need to readjust your tps. I do not know that much about a climbing idle like you describet but check you BAC and look for vacum hoses you might not have put back on and make shure everything is nice and tight I had a huge problem after I put my intake manifold back on after eplacing my pd with abanjo bolt and it turned out to be a loose bolt was caussing a vac leak.

The dashpot only slows down the throttle release, it would not make the engine rev higher.
To me it sounds like a vacuum leak. When I first started my rebuild, it would just keep revving to 4k on its own intil I shut it off. Id check all the vacuum stuff first, and its probably a small one cause of the way you decribed it.
Also, 2k is WAY too high of an idle. You need to check all the places that affect your idle. Also adjust the tps.

Cool i will check all of that. The 2k i am not worried about though it doesn't stay there long, generally then it works its way down. I just hope i didn't forget to cap off a vac nipple.
keep the suggestions coming.
Thanks a lot,

actually no, my dashpot was messed up, because i took it out. and reinstall it i made it too deep and so it makes my car revs up everytime i release gas.

The first time I did it I made it to low and when I was upshifting the dashpot was catching the throttle too soon. This made the rpm's take a sec too long before they started to drop; making me wait a sec before I could shift each time.

climbing idle is semi-fixed. my problems now is a very jumpy idle. it probably jumps from about 2000 to about 500. and then if i rev it the idle will stay where it was reved to and begin to climb slightly, but now i can knock it down. The only thing is, is that when knocked down it doesn't just drop. it falls slowly and not all the way to idle, it might go from 4000 to 3000 and then i have to keep knocking it down. but the jumping idle is what worries me the most.

i had the same problem...after removing my emmissions and doing the TB mod...
its was the tps, just adjust it down until it idles fine....like i said, mine did the same exact thing....also check the oil metering lever/ arm thing....mine was sticking a little so we had to make it catch less as well....
this should fix your problem...

ok here i go.
Now when i start it up, it shoots to 3000 (normal). But usually i can knock it down right away, not now though. It does it on its own a little later. When the idle does go down it drops to about 1500 and proceeds to jump anywhere between 1700 and 1300 rpms. I have adjusted the tps checked out the oil mettering pump and looked for vacuum leaks, and adjusting the idle speed does nothing. Let me know if you guys have any more ideas.
Thanks
