some places for gauges are,the idiot gauge surround, the center air vent(removing it and making a plate for gauges),the A plillar mounted pods, the Stereo Gauge pod(1fast TII) and the small demister vent location(driver's side).the door vent location, and some company also makes a "mickey mouse ear" gaige pod,That goes over your main gauge surround and has Gauge pods on each corner(hence the Mickey Mouse reference.)..Hope that is the info you are looking for.Cheers.STYX.

In the stereo surround area, the glovebox cover, mounted on the passenger side dash area using gauge cups/mounts....
Tons of places can be used....just make sure you use a spot that will be easily seen by the driver.

^yeah, something like oil temp, oil pressure, water temp etc. can be mounted in places that aren't in plain view when driving but something as critical and active as A/F and boost gauges should be mounted where they can be viewed easily.

I have a trio of gauges where the radio used to be and it's a pain to monitor them.
The warning light cluster is a good spot but then you'd have to relocate that cluster.
Really depends on the car's main purpose and how you prioritize the gauges.

A-pillar pods are the most useful for active gauges like boost, AF ratio, EGT etc. No one makes an overhead pod that I know of, and honestly I don't think it'd be that great. If you use small gauges and keep the size down to where it doesn't impede vision, it'd be okay. You could use digital displays and LED panels to do it, like the Dawes Devices (now 3bar Racing, or Motorsport, I think) A/F meter, and some wide bands have small digital display panels instead of the round gauge type.
As mentioned, gauges you don't need to look at that often, don't need to be easily viewable when you are driving hard. You really don't need to be checking oil pressure or water temp when in the middle of a corner.

From: We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?
I have prosport gauges mounted all around the place, such as above the idiot cluster and in the dash its self(a lil ricey but I didnt like the idea of gauges on the passenger side blocking my view out of the windshield. But because you cannot watch them all at the same time I have warning lights right beside the cluster with lil stickers telling me which gauge it goes to. I am about to scrap this though because I went all black interior now and want something different.

Also be careful of where you place the gauges if you happen to DD your car and leave it parked on the side of a street. People tend to steal gauges that are easily accessible and/or stand out...

Yeah, I had a tach ripped out of my GLHS like that, had it mounted to the A-pillar. I was working out in the back of the junkyard, some kids came in looking for some AE86 or Celica parts or something, didn't have it and they left. Walked back up a few minutes later and my tach was gone, they tried to rip the bracket out but couldn't so they just unhooked the tach itself and cut the wires It was a cheap Sunpro too, like 35 bucks brand new
