I have a passenger side single exhaust for sale here in Tallahassee. I wasn't going to try to sell it online (don't want to ship it), and I don't know anyone locally that could use it, so I'll let it go real cheap if you want to drive here to pick it up.
RB header, no-name presilencer (used less than a year), 2.5" pipe to a SS polished Magnaflow muffler.

The weight saving is well under 1% of the car's total weight. Good luck noticing that...
Turbo or NA makes no difference at all.
You've answered your own question. IF you can keep it quiet. The reason for two parallel mufflers is being able to have better noise suppression for the same flow or the same noise suppression for better flow.

NA dont go larger than 2.5"
Turbo should be a minimum 2.5"
Drivers side is easier to fabricate cos there's less bends.
I have a 2.25" Lukey cat back exhaust with a hi flow muffler in the middle out to a 4" cannon. Very noticable power gain over the stock dual. And lots louder.

with that logic, you could run your car off rainbows and Febreeze... LOL
everyone is entitlted to their own opinion, but as far as performance goes, single wins.
PS: There is a way to keep it quiet.
Also I run 2.5" pipe on mine. A friend runs like 3.5 or 4" and his car is much louder than mine. Still not as nasty os most of the dual exhaust 7's around here.

you could get bumper guards to block off the other hole if you go single, and to protect your bumper from melting off!
im going single exhaust soon, passenger side FTW
